Buildin my own pc - wich motherboard?

wot socket should i get too? i was told one with a '0' in...?

Please advize what your CURRENT component specs are, you may not have to get a new vid crd.

If price is the deciding factor then get a name brand socket 478 mobo and an inexpensive video card for around $150 US. Look for specials on mobo/cpu combos for socket 478, ther'e cheap right now.

Add a nice vid crd and your all set to go.

Check out this board from Abit. The biggest differences are the socket is 775 which accomodates newer cpu's and the inclusion of a PCI-e slot for current (and Cheaper) video cards. This combo will allow for more upgrade ablilty in the future and should be about the same price as a socket 478.

I just realised, i think that my DVD drive, and possibly a CD drive, my HDD, possibly 2, and floppy drive are all IDE. oes that make a mayjor difference in what boards i can get?

No not at all. Most decent motherboards allow you to connect 4 of (HDD/CD) and 1-2 Floppy drives
