Building a $1500 gaming

Hey I've been a mac user for the past few years of my life and I'm wondering how to build a gaming rig firstly, and also if I could build a good one for about $1500. I primarily want to play CS: source, c&c 3, Call of duty 4 and Dawn of war. anyone willing to help?

I live in Beijing where there's a big computer district in town. I just need everything other than the OS because I have a XP SP2 disc and a Vista Ultimate one, which I have used for boot camp on my family's 3 macs. On the speakers note I don't usually like using speakers because I prefer using some nice headphones for the best gaming experience. I have a mouse in mind that I would like to buy but I'm not sure what's it called, I know that it has a ball scroller and it's on the side of the mouse so one can use their thumb to operate it. Keyboard..anything good for gaming that anyone can recommend.

Well... since I can't give links:

E8400
P35-DS3L
2GB DDR2-800 CL4 (x2 for 4GB)
Western Digital SE16 16MB SATAII 500GB
Cooler Master Centurion 5
Sony WriteMaster DVD Burner PATA
OCZ GameXStream 700W
Logitech G5 Mouse
Logitech G15 Keyboard

I doubt he has them there, however...

He has his mouse done, so I'd say the G15 is his best bet for a gaming keyboard.

He definitely has them there. And what about a video card? Maybe a nice 8800GTS G92. Also, we should leave the case up to him, as personal preference plays a large role in case selections.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, I'd also like a guide on how to build my computer because as I stated earlier I've been a mac user for the past few years and completely have forgot how to build a computer. Anyone have any links to guides?

Thanks for all the help you guys, I'll post here when I need to know how to Install an OS on it. Now you guys are suggesting Intel chips but from the building a computer 101 thread it says AMD are better for gaming than Intel chips. Also OS wise, XP or Vista?

Yeah I don't have to worry about buying RAM in Beijing it's dirt cheap for 4GB of RAM. Now for the motherboard they suggested should I get a certain size case for it?

alright I'll get a nice tower case in the compter district here. I'll probably give it a nice black paint job because they're very bland colours here like beige and grey which I just can't stand. Also when I finish building my comp, do I just put the Vista installation disc and it'll just start installing? Because I've read somewhere that you need XP on the computer before you install Vista

nah you just need to stick in the dvd, enter the bios of the new computer, and set the boot priority to your dvd drive. simple as that.
