building a budget gaming comp

You don't need one, there are converters that work quite well. I would go with the Xclio PSU anyway...it's got a 24pin connector and its a little cheaper like I said.

Looks pretty good, although if hes going to be transfering files, i would go with the 802.11g wireless card, and i would spend a little more money and get the 3200+.

Is ~$50 really worth it? I mean I think the 3000 Venice is good enough for his needs. It wouldn't be that hard to overclock it past a 3200 if he really wants.

So if you can afford it, why not go with the 3200+? It's only $50 more anyway.

Why not? Because the title of the thread is "building a budget gaming comp". $50 is a lot when it comes to a budget computer :)

That really doesn't make sense. It's like when people brag about how their overclocked vanilla video card is just as good as a GT. But you can overclock a GT and so on. If you can afford it, why not go with the 3200+?

he wont notice the difference, he has a desktop w/ a 900mhz cpu and a laptop w/ 1.2
he wont be sharing files much, he doest rly have a reason to-and also if he were to get g, he already has 2 laptops on b so he would have to upgrade those too

Cheaper, better PSU with dual 12V rails
How so? 16x2 = 15+17

Only 16A on the 2 12V rails. Check out the PSU101, Prae has some good ones listed.
Last time i checked 16x2=15+17 so theres not much difference

And in fact, both PSUs are made by the people who make it for Antec so its all really close...

wow, completley 4got about that, i need a 24pin psu for the mobo right?
For all intents and purposes, yes.

Or a LAN jack

I dunno whats with the crapload of multiposts+deletions but fyi, it doesnt jack your post count ;) (and its also confusing since there is a 30sec between posts so it shuldnt have been an accidental doublepost .. which is confirmed by the timestamping hehe)

Actually the comparison doesnt hold since video cards and processors, either stock or overclocked, are quite different .... especially when (1) not as many people know about the clock efficiency of GPUs (2) factor in pipeunlocking etc

I'm not trying to jack up my post count... I could care less about that. I do sometimes edit my posts... I often make mistakes that I'd like to remedy before someone else reads it

lol no worries ... it's just that almost every single time i see one of your posts ... theres like 2-3 more deleted ones which are identical ... just wondering if you had cookie issues or connection issues you werent aware of :)

Yeah, I guess I'm a bit of a perfectionist. But you're the only one that can tell whether I've altered my postings... and it rarely happens that someone else posts before I can fix mine.

We're getting off topic so this'll be the last i talk of it, but when you edit a post, you dont have to delete it or make a new one (i.e., you can intuitively edit the old post) :)
