Hi Guys, i am looking to build a gaming pc.

I'm not terribly tech savvy and a bit mince with hardware in total.

I hope you guys can give me some suggestions for a decent machine that runs as close to £500 as possible!

I am keen on intel processors and nvidia GFX.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

EDIT - No Peripherals needed, just the complete tower unit + case! I have mouse keyboard and monitor! I have a wireless network in operation but don't mind having to wire to save some pennies!

Oh and has to be availble in the UK!

do you have an operating system as thats going to be about £70

Nope :(

Was planning on windows 7 64 bit. I would also like at least 4 bays for harddrives so a larger case and a Mobo that can handle it!

Can't make it for £500.

Please note that the hdd price is very high at the moment due to thailand flooding. I include a SSD instead of HDD such that you buy something which worth the money. I honestly don't know when will the HDD price go down. It would down to you to make the decesion if you want a HDD now.

£626 from overclockers.com
Intel Core i3-2100
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 (This is the cheapest Z68 chipset mobo on the list. you may want some mid-range if you want)
Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB SSD
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 Superclocked (Anything below this price point, AMD will be better value for money)
XFX Pro 550W Core Edition PSU
Fractal Design Core 3000 (You could consider cheap budget case if you really want to)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM

thanks daisymtc,
Will this be sufficient to run most of the games out at the moment without too much issues?

I have 1tb hard drives kicking about i plan to pop in, but nothing else :(

I would love some other builds detailed and any other ideas!

If you can go for the 2500k, and if money warrants it you could up the 460 to a 560 ti, other than that the build daisy put is solid.

Thanks Mikeb2817, i think i would want to future proof as much as possible, would it be possible to keep that same build but pop an i5 in instead? is there much benefit?

yes, but I would suggest that you get a good cooler also. Good ones are the V6GT, CM212+, and the various processor water cooling loops.

Yeah if you want to future proof am i5 2500k would be optimal for the price, but investing in a good cooler now would be very beneficial in the long run when you start overclocking.

Things like gpu can be upgraded later but you want a strong cpu off the bat (im talking from experience, im lumbered with an e6600 and it is horrible :P)

Do you guys have any links to where i can purchase these items?

So i can look at them all in more detail?

Thanks for all your help guys.

Aria.co.uk is a mint site, some great deals on there, overclockers.co.uk, dabs.com/ or co.uk i cnt remember, ebuyer.com

amazon is alright for certain stuff but shipping is a bitch.

Stay away from scan.co.uk member on here have had bad experiances i was warned away from them by one of the mods, Aastii.

Also if you live near manchester, Bowlers in trafford have a good computer thing on every weekend, Aastii also tipped me off about this :p

if you'd like the most power for your money, this comes in closer to the 1k, but some parts may be cheaper elsewhere

on a side note, has anyone ever seen this case before, i think i have a new favorite case of all time, sorry haf x, and i think this one is cheaper too, at least on there :D (edit) on newegg it is 180 and haf x is 200 now (prices went up a good bit i think?), but the haf x has free chipping and its shipping is 20, so they end up the same price.
