So Here's the story folks. I'm a big super noob at this computer stuff but my friend recently made a list of parts for a computer that he said he could build me off of newegg. Tell me your thoughts, like if the card is bad or if its too much money..

1) biostar motherboards are crap
2) a 17" LCD is small . Get a 19"
3) Why XP MCE? Vista premium or XP Pro

I'd appreciate it if you did make me a build.
I don't want the price to go much higher, but I'm interested in what you say would be better.

Just put together a quick build. This is with everything but an OS. I included a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and wireless card. This system would walk all over the one you got up there, and it's only like $200 more.

At the moment yes, by a very big margin. The Q6600 would kick the crap out of the X2 6000+ (I own an X2 6000+ and a Q9550, the latter having a massive lead in terms of performance).

1. - Main use of PC???
2. - Budget???
3. - Why AMD????

Main usage: Gaming
Why Amd: I have no clue. Is there something wrong with it?
Budget: none

Intel is better for gaming, i'll do you a build.

yeah baluba, that build is lightyears ahead of what your friend built, literally 2 times faster in terms of processing speed. no matter what your friend suggests, thats what you build :)

Yes, i would have to agree that's an impressive build.
Good job cohen. ;)
But i would have to detest at the ram recommendation...
The performance increase from DDR2 800mhz to DDR2 1066 mhz, is minimal.
Since your probably looking for the best bang for your buck i would recommend
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Hope this helps. :)

Ok. so... can one of you guys Roughly Explain to me what to look for when building your computer.. and why it's important.. i know very little about video cards and ram.. thats about it
