building a computer for my brother, please help?

The R9 280 won't be on the shelves in a year. It will have been long gone since the new cards (380 I assume) are coming out soon. I reckon by Christmas you won't be able to get a new 280 if the 380 comes out within the next month.

The best thing to do is wait until you have the money for the card and get the best thing you can afford when you have the money. :good:
 
Hey :)

Sorry it has been such a long time since I last came on here,

I did manage to buy the motherboard, hard drive, DVD drive and the case for my brother :) I also helped him get some more money but he spent it on Playstation games lol! So I had to delay his computer for a bit,

I think we can order the rest of the parts now though as my dad has given me some money to buy them for my brother for Christmas :)
 
I am wondering if you can help me choose what other parts to order for him please? :) as I guess things may have changed as there may be better options now as new parts have probably come out :)

I have been looking for some parts but I don't really understand what to order lol :) thanks :)

I am not sure which CPU to buy for him, also the Ram and graphics card, I think our budget is another £300 to cover the Power supply, the ram and the CPU, and maybe also the graphics card, but we could wait and save up for a graphics card later on if we really need to :)

That's brilliant news, thanks :) I think £300 is our budget at the moment, however he can just use the built in graphics on the processor for a bit - maybe a month or two, and then hopefully after that he will have a GTX 760 or 970 :)

Just wondering if a GTX 970 will work with this motherboard?
