Building a computer for my mom

My mom started using a computer for the first time lord knows when but she wants me to build her one so let me know your thoughts on this. Im not going to make this one crazy, just fair and simple. Maybe other people can probably go this route for a budget computer but have some kick in it.

Let me know what you guys think.

The memory you selected is triple channel, while the motherboard is a dual channel board. Get this instead:

Are you planning on overclocking at all? That motherboard uses a Foxconn socket that isn't up to the task--it's slightly "defective" and doesn't give good contact. It's fine for normal use, though.

Rosewill isn't known for good PSUs...check out this OCZ one:

As far as your graphics card, if you're fine going open box (I haven't had any bad experiences!), this is an absolutely amazing deal:

I have another post of what im going to build for myself. I figured I tried to build a decent/inexpensive computer for the fam. Its not what my mom is going to with the build, I have a little brother that still lives with mom. Guarantee you he will be the one on it most of the time which is why I tried to put some punch into the machine.

Doesnt look too bad. From the start, the operating system was going to have windows 7 home premium. I've been with intel for the longest and my dad has a laptop with an AMD processor but im not too much of a fan of AMD (im not biased by any means, just personal). I like to stick with intel as much as I can. I havent seen too many reviews the I5 which is why I tried to be different about it. Plus when I go home, there is a slight possibility that I may overclock this cpu while im on vacation visiting the family. Since she runs a day care, she can buy children games for the cpu and my bro can show the kids how to play. Ill come up with a better build as far as mobo and cpu processor. Everything else listed sounds good though.

But Intel's hardly a "budget build" company... and AMD OCs like crazy :D although I've heard the i5 and i7s are quite nice at that too...

Windows 7 is fine, but why not get Vista and Win 7 for less than Windows 7 Home Premium alone?

You know what, I just bought Win 7 Ultimate Full Retail just now. This was originally for my gaming machine that Im going to build but since I thought about it, i could just install ultimate and not have to worry about getting home premium.

Have you really asked what your mum is using this for?

Maybe shes a nerd under that hard exterior ;)

I dont think i want to go there. Besides that Comcrash computer thats over there has to go anyway. It has windows 98 on it.
