Building a computer.. HELP!!

Hey guys! I set up this account so i could get some advice on building a computer and (Possibly) help some others out!

What i have set up is a shopping cart full of stuff that was recommended to me, links will be below

It should all work fine together. As for a graphics card, get a Radeon 6850 or a 6870, either one of those two will go with your system. :)

Thank you for getting back so quickly!! This is why I love forums!!! :)

Not a problem. :) You may want a newer motherboard too, an AM3+ board with the 990 chipset. ASUS make some, see here http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M5A99X-E...M70Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1338140217&sr=8-3 that'll still work with your processor. If you want a cheaper 970 board then this one is good http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Socket-C...65UU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338140217&sr=8-1

Here are the graphics cards:

Radeon 6850 http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Rade...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1338140268&sr=1-1

Radeon 6870 http://www.amazon.com/SAPPHIRE-Rade...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1338140286&sr=1-1

Either will work just fine. The 6870 is faster but more expensive.

You guys have been really helpful! I'm going to take you up on all the reccomendations even though I am $100 over budget.. Being 15, it's hard to earn money quickly but a fast computer within reach is what I have always wanted!! I should have it build by late July and will post pictures and make a video promoting your professionalism!

I am still accepting advice and input into my first built computer! ;)

Why keep the phenom? A phenom x6 is the same price, and while you dont need 6 cores, it would still be faster. Also, get a FX CPU, they are the same performance and newer tech. Get this mobo, as vista said: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M5A99X-E...M70Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1338140217&sr=8-3 And get this CPU: http://www.amazon.com/AMD-6100-6-Co...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1338140546&sr=1-1 And a 6870: http://www.amazon.com/SAPPHIRE-Rade...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1338140603&sr=1-1

I have swapped the CPUs in my shopping cart. I am using newegg.com to see if I can get a better deal on all this!

The RAM is fine too but i think AMD's can run 1866 isn't it?
so why dont take 1866, it is faster:)

They do but i have 4 ports so I can always upgrade to the newer faster ram since it is also more expensive...

May as well save the money and get 1600MHz RAM and overclock it to 1866 yourself if you want the extra speed. There is no noticeable difference between 1600 and 1866 anyway, so save the money there.

No problems and I look forward to seeing your build once it is all completed! Yeah I know the feeling about money, I'm 14 now but I first built my machine when I was 13 (re-built it several times though lol) and I had to save up for a while to be able to afford all the parts. You'll always love your first build though. :)

Thank you!

Thanks!! I guess the first build is always the most memorable!

Should I save up and ditch the AMD FX?

One quick note.. I was told that the AMD FX is not going to be very good and that i also need a better moboard... he said that i could do large updates every 4 years compared to small ones every year.... :/

Currently i just want my first build to be good, fast, and get my video rendering done in HD.....

Yes/No

You getting this at amazon or newegg?

Newegg where i can and the rest Amazon....

Pros of Newegg: No Tax... some what cheaper
Cons of Newegg: Less Variety... Sometimes out of stock w/ no replacement

Pro of Amazon: variety and replacement/great customer service
Cons of Amazon: Taxes + prices go up and down

I updated my shopping cart so i have a new list... changed in my signature...

Get a different case then a Apevia. Stick with a NZXT/Corsair/Lian Li/Cooler Master/Silverstone. On the Harddrive, if you want a Western Digital get a Black, not Blue. On the Motherboard if you want a 990X chipset get the GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3. But for 10 bucks more you can get the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 990FX chipset that does 16X/16X in Crossfire or SLI. If you dont plan on running Crossfire you could save 30/40 bucks with the 970 chipset GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3. All three Gigabytes have a 10 phase power setup. The PNY memory is up to you, its ok memory but I would get G Skill.

There is no power supply listed unless you going with the Corsair in the first post.

If Blue and Black are the same speed, how is Black any better? :p

Also, I'd say for storage, Green drives are better.

Blue/Green doesnt matter, either are good storage drives. The Black has dual controllers/NoTouch/Larger Cache/StableTrac and a 5 year warranty. Has alot in common with the enterprise drives. The blue is basically a updated older SE16. I would take the Samsung F3 over the blue.

Blue/Green does matter for storage because you can get the Green for less $/GB, and in storage, speed is negligible.
