Hello guys .
Just got redirected here. Hope will get good replies.
I am thinking to buy a new desktop for my heavy multi-tasking needs like heavy browsing, some multiples of few REALTIME software (doing calculations all the time), some test editors and some other small applications running all the time.
But i am issues with selecting the best processor and accordingly compatible LATEST motherboard with it.
I want to go with INTEL processors and motherboard only as of now.
Now what i decided on till now is i can fit Intel's new Core i5 processors (750 or 750S) (These are 4Core/ 4Thread types and without HT)
but i see Core2Quad top range and Core 2 Extremes which are infact old are more costlier than that (with 4C/4T type and even with HT)
Now dilemma is is costlier means best for me out of these options?
Further there is lot of fuss about HT. Some say is not much worth? applications dont support it. Some say its back with i series of processors (not i5 though) and very useful and lot more confusion.
Sure my needs are on multitasking and something running multiple threads for faster processing would be great?
Can you kindly post your views and help me out selecting a processor and then according a good compatible mother board too?
BUDGET : About 1k$
(For Processor +Motherboard +RAM + HDD +Graphics Card (if needed) +Monitor (21-26inch))
For your info (for other i have decided)
For RAM: i can go with DDR 3 1333 or DDR 2 800 (as DDR 2 1066/1333 mhz dont have much edge on various tests done around net and so is DDR 3 1066 mhz over DDR 3 1333Mhz)
Brand can be Kingston or any other reliable one
of course in the end i have to see support with mother board too.
For HDD : Seagate barracuda 1 TB 7200RPM ST31000S28AS ; 65$ at my place
For Graphics Card : Here again processor and mother board comes in for inbuilt Graphics. Though i am easy (in fact better) with purchasing a standalone NVIDIA graphics card and select something with no onboard Graphics card to save double-spending.
Will ask later about this
May be GEFORCE 8800G or 9400GT. Dual display port is very important (read below)
For Monitor : IMPORTANT here: i plan to use multiple screens for my Desktop. At least 2 is something i surely need. Further i am not replying on more than 2 as there are Main USB monitor solutions available for later use
Sohere again motherboard/graphics card comes in into picture.
New LCD Monitor i will be buying will be high end with atleast DVI-D & HDMi inputs (and most probably D-Sub/VGA, S-vdeo and even Composite)
Still my old CRT monitor is VGA and i intend to use it as 2nd monitor)
For Heat Sink : I do not know yet i will need it or not But i think selecting it is not a problem, after major processor gets done. Though i5 has heat sink included.
For CD/DVD: I already have a new CD/DVD/REwriter Combo from LG
For Cabinet I have selected a high end cabinet with good power watt'ge PSU and nice AIR circulation system.
Looking forward guys !
