Can someone do a build for me?
I am a video editor and that's it. I don't play games at all.
Other than video editing i just use the internet and other general stuff.

I am not sure if the new I7 will benefit me.
I want people to here my specs and think "man, that's a nice computer."

I am looking to build no more than 1200 or so.

Keep in mind this is the case i want to use.

And i will be running dual 22" LED monitors (not included in the build budget)
I am an asus guy so the video card and mobo should also be asus please.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your thoughts on AMD or Intel as a preference? Case size? And Generally how powerful do you want to make it? And as above states, do you need Windows 7?

So it has to have an HAF-X, and the only brand you'll take for the mobo and video card is Asus? The mobo I can kind of understand, but the video card...why? Reference designs are all the same...

The new i7 is about as powerful as it gets without paying $1000 for one of Intel's hexacores, and should easily fit into your budget since you won't need a high end GPU. A GTS 450 should easily have you covered.

Yes. I posted the case i want to use in the OP. Windows 7 will be fine.
I will also be doing a dual boot with Mac since i am big into video editing just an FYI so anything that will work with mac products better then that's what i am looking for.

So pretty much i want the case i have posted.
An Asus motherboard.
And the capability of running dual monitors and a third in the future. I can upgrade to a 2nd video card later if needed.

I am open to AMD or INTEL. They both seem to be pretty equal to me.

You have to use hacked software to run OS/X on anything but a Mac, and it violates OS/X's user agreement. Most forums, including here, won't let its members discuss it. Sorry man

However, you don't need a Mac to run editing software. The only real advantage that it offers over Windows is different software...their capabilities are fairly equal.

Do you think you'll be overclocking it at all? (It's an extra $30 for the unlocked/overclocking-enabled version of the i7 2600)

Well the only reason is to run final cut. I want to use final cut but really do not want a Mac...From what i read they only sell final cut for Mac os.

I looked into dual boot and i have read that is is perfectly legal as long as i own both OS's?

Either way i may just have to use adobe for my video editing.
If overclocking will void the warranty then i will not do it.
Thanks.

iMac's are damned expensive and not particularly powerful. The one you linked is roughly equivalent to an entry-level gaming computer from late '08/early '09.

However, the 27" ones do have very good displays on them. They're 2560x1440 IPS panels...great for a/v editing.

Have decided to keep going with the build. It seems like Final cut and Adobe are pretty much the same. Can i get a couple builds?

There's just a lot of them right now, haha.

Just eyeballing it, an i7 2600K, decent quality P67 board, 2GB Gt 430, and 8GB of decent RAM should have about everything covered for this. You could fit in a more powerful GPU if you wanted, but that one should have everything covered. Maybe up it to a GTS 450. Round it out with a decent ~500W power supply and you're good to go. I don't think that'll cost anywhere near 1200, though, so you could certainly get a beefier rig if you want.
