Building a computer

I would like to build my own computer. I would like to know what parts I need, what brand names of these parts are recommended, and what these parts cost and what the total will probably cost to build it. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what part of the world you live in what the cost of parts is going to be, but in the U.S you can look at www.newegg.com and compare prices.

What budget are you looking at? And what do you want to use the computer for? Gaming, photo, video editing? Just surfing?

I'm in the US. I'm going to use the computer as just a regular computer for surfing the web, checking my email and stuff like that. I'm not a gamer, so I don't need any of that fancy shmancy stuff. I want a really good system thats fast and won't be obsolete soon because of not enough memory, disk space, or whatever. In other words, a good system that will last me for some years without needing to be replaced in the near future.

But I also don't want to spend tons of money. If I can do it for under $1,000, that would be great.

I'm a bit of a tightwod. :o So I don't want to spend over a grand. If I have to spend a little more than that, I will if it's worth it.

$1k is pretty good for a basic computer..

I suggested this to another member just a second ago and it will do some mild gaming..

Intelcrazy, I thought you were anti A-Data?

I was... Until I tried some, ssshhhh, don't tell anyone:cool: Pretty good stuff, just like G. Skill. Better than Corsair RAM, IMHO. Corsair really turned me down when they put ProMos in the lower scale XMS2, only to nab a few extra $'s.

Well in my mind since i do not live in us i can´t tell u what the cost will be but i can tell this much that motherboard should be PCI-E and using ddr2 ram...for the protsessor part i cant tell since i reasently ordered intel dual 2 core and i do not have any expirence with amd`s and video should be around 256mb and 64 bites or what ever suites ur needs best...and well u said u like to use the cpu for web surfing so i think u should pay more intentson on modem of cpu and...think of video that has tv insertion possible because it is a very good time killer just hakking and getting it to work like u want;)
Anywais hope this helps:)
