UPDATED COMPONENT LIST

So, i just found this site due to my need for assurance that the computer i'm piecing together will work out properly.. I believe myself to have chosen the proper hardware to keep me happy. well.. here's the run down. all from newegg...

I'm not building a dedicated gaming rig.. my laptop of 5 plus years could still keep up with current technology, but it's having overheating issues in it's old age and i want something i can run videos/movies/shows off the net with. Looking for something with staying power that can handle a few upgrades here and there down the road.

Do you already have the OS, keyboard, mouse, monitor? The PSU is terrible, get something like a cooler master, OCZ, Xclio, Corsair, Antec, PC Power and cooling, etc. Newegg had a 9800GT on sale for $80 which is the same as the 9600GT I will check to see if they still do. You should really get a AM3 motherboard, and DDR3 RAM. It's going to cost about the same probably even cheaper. I will list everything you need to change.

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817189005&Tpk=Xclio Goodpower If you don't mind the look of the case I suggest you get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.276100 the case is one of my favorites and is the best case for a budget.

CPU + Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.291513

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231275

or if you really just want to make everything easy then just get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.293283 that is one heck of a deal.
