Building a computer

I will be building a computer soon and am a newcomer to building computers and I came here for help on building it. I am looking for a computer with the following:

A i7 chip that has the best cache or l2 memory?
Dual dvi graphics cards with a gig of memory
8-12 Gb of ram
A 1tb hard drive with 7200 rpm
Solid state drive
24 cd dvd burner double sided
built in wifi
proper power supply
a good case
a good sound car

Anything else that you suggest would be greatly appreciated. As i am a newcomer, would it be fairly easy to build it once i get all the parts or would i need someones help?

What's your budget? Two graphic cards isn't gonna be cheap, so it might be wise just to buy one powerful card instead of two decent cards.

I suppose one powerful graphics card would work, and my budget I would say it up to 1500$, it's for my dad so I wouldn't know exactly because he's not home right now.

He'll probably be making videos and such, I don't know why but he has a fancy towards high end computers. Oh, and I'll cease the opportunity and game on it for him.

You don't really need that powerful of a video card for HD video. A ATI 4xxx would be enough for a clear HD picture. You definitely don't need two cards for videos.

Forget that much RAM
Don't forget Win 7 64 bit
Forget extra graphics card (hd is done on the CPU anyway)
Upgrade CPU
Get a 2 x 2TB drives and RAID them.

About the same price

Your are going to need a wireless NIC for wifi I don't know of any motherboard that supports wifi. Which mobo are you getting? Have you looked into specific hardware? what Software is your dad/you going to use. Depending on the mobo you can get good on-board audio.

for the case are you limited for space? check out the Cooler master CM 690 II

Alright, I figured out my dad is gonna be using it for photoshop, video editing, and graphics so he wants a good computer for that. Will any part that i look at on new egg work with any mother board or do I have to get a specific one for each case, and will I be able to put it together considering I have no background knowledge on building computers?

The motherboard has to support your CPU and RAM. With the CPU, you need the right socket type. For AMD, it would be AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, etc, and with Intel it would be LGA1155, LGA1156, etc. The RAM need to be the same type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3) and the same speed (1333, 1600, etc) as your motherboard. I suggested a nice computer in this other thread that would be great for his needs.

What does he mean by graphics? For games or just video and all that?

Alright, I looked at that computer you posted and it looks pretty good. I'm assuming it can multi-task very easily and handle photoshop and games etc. Now, if I were to buy that right now, would I need to get anything else (assuming i bought a case and monitor also) and start building the computer right away? Also, would this be superior http://www.dell.com/us/p/studio-xps-9100/pd to that<?

You also have to make sure that your motherboard fits in your case as for the dell rig I haven't really looked at the specs but rig you build yourself is the way to go. You get exactly what you want expansion options and better quality components.
