Building a gaming pc

I have a budget of $1,000. Im looking to build a computer for gaming (Mass Effect), photoshop, and Avid.

I'm looking to spend money on a computer case and other computer parts such as a processor, hardrive, and so on.

I already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and a windows cd, so Ill just be spending money on components.

I would appreciate any help.

I had one question about the CrossFireX & SLI feature on the motherboard.

In the future when I get a new video card will I just be able to use it with the old video card or do the video cards need to be the same?

you need to keep cards within the same series and only with the same GPU. (eg, a 5750 and a 5770, or a 5850 and a 5870)
