Building a gaming desktop. 2 questions!

IMO:

2500K (2600K just adds hyperthreading)
P67 board (ASRock make some great ones)
8GB DDR3, more if you do video rendering work
SSD for boot drive + Samsung F3 for storage
GTX 580 if you can afford it, otherwise GTX 560Ti/570 will be good. And you can SLI in the future.
~850W quality PSU (see PSU sticky in the PSU section)

Also note that my 570 did great in the BF3 beta, however from what I know, some of the Ultra effects weren't enabled. I would go with a single 580 and see how it pans out once the game is out. Don't forget that future driver releases will bring better performance.

why not a Z68 board?
