Well my budget is $600. This is my first time building a computer, i was thinking of ordering everything off of newegg.ca, or tigerdirect.ca. If i could get some help, that would be great.:)

Thanks.

CAD$600 for hardward?
Do you need OS?

BTW, I heard ppl suggest order from ncix.com in canada. Are you insist to order at newegg.ca & tigerdirect.ca?

Yeah, i'm going to need OS as well. I'll just pick that up at my local bestbuy.

Honestly, it doesn't matter where i order the parts from, as long as they're all from the same site.:D

Don't pick OS at bestbuy!! The retail version is a lot more expensive than OEM version (you'll need to order with hardware)!
e.g. OEM vista premium CAD$150, Retail CAD$235!! What you miss is only the user manual...

Because cheap power supplies are all they put in cases, and cheap power supplies= very low amerpage on the 12v rail and high likelyhood of failure. When a power supply fails it usually fails catastropically, as it appears one member of this forum their graphics card was blown by a power supply going out...take a look down in off topic "my graphics card blew up" and you can see what can result from a power supply going bad/blowing out. The power supply is like the heart of a system, just like how your heart keeps your blood moving, which supplies the rest of your body with the oxygen and nutrients it needs to stay alive;)

I think that you exagerrated just a bit about all that stuff. the comuputer in my sig has a no-name china built POS psu that is "rated" at 420, probably puts out 350 max, and the effeciency, well i dont even want to go there, but it runs my system just fine, aslong as you get enough power to supply your system, you will be fine, although if you do get a name brand psu, it will no doubt be better and last longer, but i have had alot of no name psu's and they have lasted longer than the computer i used(old technology)... my point is for 600$ he doesnt need to get a name brand one, also long as he has a no-name 500w with a single rail of 26amps, or 16x2 then he should be fine.
