Building a new computer

Hi,

I am building myself a new computer, case and all, and seeing as how I have no experience a friend suggested I get the opinion of people on forums. So here I am.

If you could, can you suggest either better parts or extras that I should get to improve my computers performance. I intend this to be a moderate - high end computer while trying to keep it under $800 or as cheap as possible. Can you also recommend what kind of cooling I would need.

The Phenom II x4 955 by far.

I just built a gaming rig with the HIS 6850 and it is a very nice card and my brother-in-law can play all games he can throw at it. So a Powercolor should do you fine.

Kingston makes great RAM but make sure that particular model works with that Asus board because Asus boards can be very picky about what memory is okay per every board model they make. They have a Quality Vendors List per board (but they are not exshaustive).

Sorry, but I could not access the links. Corsair makes some excellent power supplies.

def go with the Phenom II x4 955... I have the Black Edition and have it overclocked to 4.2ghz stable, im not sure if the regular model performs the same though.

Its a solid build, go with the phenom II and the 6850 for gpu.

Video card - 6850, as your mobo support crossfire.

CPU - Phenom IIx4 955

RAM - can consider g.skill for slightly more
