Building a new gaming PC, Need help!!

Hey everyone.
I'll say this at the very start, I am not computer smart so if you see something that is wrong/unwise please point it out!!!.
So i'm building a new computer for games/web surffing/homework. The primary use gaming for games like World of Warcraft, Crisis 2, Call of duty's and various steam games.

I have a high end game computer in mind.

These are the parts I am considering to get.

CPU-i7-2600k sandy bridge 2nd gen intel i7
GPU-AMD radion HD6970 2Gb
Motherboard-Intel Z68 Chipset
RAM-Kingston 12Gb (three 4Gb sticks) DDR3 PC-10600 (133Mhz) 240-pin
CPU cooler- Intel Orginal cooling fan with heatsink
Hard Drive- 2Tb (2 1Tb sticks) SATA III 7200rpm
Opitcal drive- Regular DvD/CD reader/burner
Case-Cooler Master HAF 912 .... Heres a link HAF 912 Advanced (Asia only) - Cooler Master - Leading Provider of Computer Case | Cooler | Power Supply
PSU-CoolerMaster GX 750W ATX Power Supply

Now I have learnt alot during the past week or so researching and picking parts, but I don't want to jump into such a big purchase without some verification from some people that know what they are talking about. My biggest worry with the paarts listed above is whether 750W PSU is enough power.

Please if you have any suggestions post them and let me know why you suggest it. You may need to dumb it down a bit for me to understand as well.

Thanks very much everyone!!!
Matt

Yes, 750w is plenty of power, but I would suggest a different brand, like a corsair, xfx, silverstone, seasonic, something like that. You have a very nice build here and you don't want the PSU dying and taking everything with it.

Is that the fastest RAM your motherboard can support? I'm guessing you meant 1333mhz. But see if the motherboard can support any faster RAM. And 12GB is a lot of RAM and your computer won't use a lot of it. Consider 8gb.

If you have extra money, look into purchasing a solid state drive just for your operating system. And do you have an operating system?

Hey, Thanks for the quick reply.
I have a few questions about your suggestions.

With the PSU, is CoolerMaster a lower quality brand? Are corsair, xfx, silverstone just better. Is the Cooler Master PSU likely to hurt me computer? If it is a huge problem could you suggest a certain model I should use?

I tried to research the speed of the motherboard but I have no idea what its most capable speed is, should I offload some RAM and save some money??

I am really pushing my budjet atm, would a SSD really benifit my OP to a signifigant level? I will have Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Is an SSD something I could upgrade my computer with in the future?

Thanks heaps!!!

You are right Cooler Master is a lower quality brand but it is not the worst.
You can trust a low-end build on it.But for a build like yours I wouldn't go for anything lesser than Seasonic/Corsair/Silverstone/Antec.

Also you should downgrade your Core i7 2600k to Core i5 2500k,since when it comes to gaming the i7 2600k is a complete overkill.
I would say even the Core i5 2500k is too much but you gotta stay futureproof ;)
As for memory 12GB is alot and it won't be used at all in gaming.
Games will utilize maximum of 4Gb.So going with 8gigs of memory would be cost cutting and futureproof and sensible.
You will only use 12GB if you are running softwares like VMware and VirtualBOX.

Also get 1600MHz of 2x4GB sticks :D
As for HDD get the WD Caviar Black or the Samsung F3s Sata 6GBps.

If you are gaming at resolutions which are above Full HD then the HD 6970 would be worth getting, because of its huge VRAM it performs really well at high resolutions.
But if gaming at full HD then a GTX 570 would be amazing and also will trump the HD 6970.
Or an HD 6950 2Gb would be ample.

For PSU you can go for a 550W PSU since you won't be needing more than that.
And if you plan a multi GPU config in the future then a 750W would be good and will also provide ample head room.
If not sterically hindered by the computer table/desk I would suggest getting a bigger mid ATX like the HAF922 for instance. Or the Corsair 600T

We can crap on for ages, it comes down to this:

Do you need hyperthreading? - read video encoding etc, then yes, the 2600(k) is better.

Else get a 2500(k) unless like me money isn't a major issue.

WHat 550W? Which 750W? This is irresponsible. Wattage has very very little to do with it. Even if it did the HD6970 TDP is 250W. Thats over 20A just for the 1 card. Yes a Corsair 550W will provide a total of 41A, enough, but a Rosewill will not.

Lets talk in amps boys, as anything else is misleading.

If you wind up saving enough in other areas, yes it would be a big upgrade since hdd is usually a bottlemeck compared to what the rest of a given system can do. The difference is very noticable. Not that you won't be happy w/o it tho, still a very good machine.
A good 60-64gb sATA II SSD can frequently be had for about $90. And sATA III on sale , about $120.

Maybe start with 4GB memory, and get one.
