Building a new pc FOR THE FIRST TIME. Help's required.

Hello,

so I want to build my own PC from scratch. This would be my first time getting to deal with these computer thingies. So I beg you to help me choose every parts of the computer (CPU, graphics card, RAM, case, etc.) I used to own a Dell laptop, but it broke down, and I don't want to repair it. I'd like to get a static PC. My budget is around 760 USD (710 EUR) - 960 USD (894 EUR). If it's possible, i'd like to play GTA V on it.

Just a quick reminder, I'M NEW TO BUILDING COMPUTERS, SO DON'T BE RUDE IF I ACT STUPID.

Thanks in advance! :)

Where do you live? It would help to know just from a perspective of what shops to source parts from and similar.

Do you do any gaming aside from GTAV? Are there any other computer requirements that you are looking for such as video editing?

I live in Lithuania. The prices do not really differ from other countries. The price is a bit higher, but that's not really a problem.

I mainly play FPS games, such as Battlefield, CS, Call Of Duty. And no, not looking for any other computer requirements, since I don't film videos, nor edit. :)

How is your component price compare to US or Europe?
EU price are usually 20% more than US...
Well, I can't really compare the prices to US, since I have no idea how much more US price differs from EU. I'll be buying things from Europe anyways, so yeah...

Here is some ideas for that kind of budget.

FX6300 / FX8320
Cooler Master EVO 212 (Optional)
MSI 970 Gaming
2 x 4GB DDR3 1866/ 2133 RAM
120 GB SSD (Optional)
Seagate/ WD 1TB HDD
GTX 960/ R9 280
DVD writer
Quality 500W+ PSU, e.g. Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, XFX
Good budget case like Antec GX500, Corsair 200R, NZXT 220

Would it be able to run GTA V or not? Thanks for info by the way. :)

Also, would this be OK?

Intel Core i5-3470, Quad Core, 3.20GHz, 6MB
DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Black 8GB (2x4GB) 1866MHz
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 OC, 2GB DDR5 (192 Bit)
MSI 970 GAMING
SSD Crucial MX100 256GB SATA3 (Is this even needed?)
PSU Corsair CX 600W

Tried putting some things together. It'd cost a bit more, but... Is it worth it?

Yes. Quite well on high settings. If you can I'd definitely opt for the 8320 or if you can afford it get an i5 set up. Do you have a specific website you order from so we can get a feel for prices and availability on things?

GPU is 2 generations old now so probably not a good idea. I'd look for something newer in the R9 2XX series or the GTX 9XX series. Higher the values of X the better. SSD is helpful but if you're on a strict budget and after pure gaming performance in FPS I'd just get a standard HDD. Loading Windows will be faster on an SSD and other programs you put on it but the money would be better spent on a graphics card or CPU for performance purposes.

Also it's better to edit posts than make a whole second one if nobody has replied inbetween.

The 970 AM3+ board won't work with the i5. You'd need a socket 1155 board for that CPU.

Generally you'll find more along the lines of 1150 for Haswell CPUs. Also the 660 is getting pretty dated at this point.

Could you please write me the whole edited setup? (The one, where Cisco suggested) Sorry for bothering you so much lol. The website is www.skytech.lt (it's a lithuanian site haha). Also, mind suggesting something to replace the old part, also good HDD? :) I feel bad for asking you that much lol.

You see, the thing is that my lithuanian website does not have the socket 1155. I noticed that amazon does not ship things to Lithuania from UK, not sure about Ebay. Any replacements?

Happy to help! I've got a test in an hour but I'll be back after that to help if somebody else doesn't handle it by then.

Good God that website has almost nothing as far as selection is concerned. It only has 1 video card in stock... Got any other sites you can use?

Hahaha. I guess you could try out these: www.kilobaitas.lt and www.varle.lt Not sure if it will be better, but maybe :D I am going to sleep now by the way, so I'll continue begging for help tommorow lol. Thanks for the help as of today :) Cya tommorow, I guess :D

Alright I pieced together things from 2 sites.

Site 1

CPU FX 8320 https://www.skytech.lt/fd8320frhkbo...64bit-35ghz-125w-cache-16mb-box-p-133995.html
Motherboard https://www.skytech.lt/90mibjp0g0ea...cketam3-4xddr3-32gb-atx-amd-970-p-149439.html

Site 2, These links are weird but should give you enough info to find it on your own if you need to

Power Supply (DO NOT change this without checking)
http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Print/Print.aspx?Page=ItemPrint_v01&ID=451023
Case, this is a lot of personal preference but I just found the cheapest one I could that isn't junk and from a brand I know and trust
http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Print/Print.aspx?Page=ItemPrint_v01&ID=451023
Hard Drive
http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Print/Print.aspx?Page=ItemPrint_v01&ID=444986
RAM, get 2 of these for a total of 8GB
http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Print/Print.aspx?Page=ItemPrint_v01&ID=553441
Graphics Card
http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Print/Print.aspx?Page=ItemPrint_v01&ID=586158

That's it! If you need a disc drive that will be another 20-30 Euros.

What I have here works out to 750 Euros I believe. Gives you some wiggle room depending on your budget. I can tell you that this machine would perform pretty much identically to mine because I have the same CPU (I overclocked mine though) and the same Graphics Card. I can play GTA V almost maxed out easily at 1080p so it should serve you well. If you play really CPU dependent games like ARMA you'd want to switch to an Intel set up. Still might be worth exploring but this is a starting point. If you were to switch to an Intel set up the only things that would change would be the motherboard and CPU. The socket numbers have to match and you'd be looking at an i5 of some sort in the socket type 1150.

If you want to spend more you could upgrade the video card to an R9 290 or even a GTX 970. I'll let you work that out and see if that's something worth spending money on. Also you could spend more on the case. Wouldn't affect performance but having a higher quality case makes building it a bit easier and more expensive cases tend to look better and be more durable overall.

If you wanted to overclock your process you could get this cooler. http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Ausintuvai...atalogStoreDetail.aspx?CatID=PL_391&ID=415864

I'd have to check on if that fits in the case I picked but if you want to spend more on the case that will affect the decision of the cooler. The CPU does come with a cooler but it's not anything that great. Will work fine if you're not overclocking but if you want go down that route you'll want to spend money on a better cooler.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask. If you need help actually assembling your components check out the guide in my signature below.

Also, I didn't even check the varle site. Would be a good idea to compare prices with the same components across sites to find the best price. Dealing with all the translations and what not slowed me down a lot so I'll let you handle that. :)

Welcome to CoFo! :)

Wow, I really appreciate the effort you put into writing that. :) You're helping me so much. Also, you messed up with the case haha. It's the same link as the power supply. Also, http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Print/Print.aspx?Page=ItemPrint_v01&ID=586158 and
http://www.skytech.lt/gvr928xoc3gd-...28xoc3gd-v30-gigabyte-p-226720.html#tabsnav-1 are the same, right? Seems that way, but I want to be sure, since I'll be buying from www.skytech.lt. They can assemble the whole PC for me. And could I just buy the items that you listed, and that would be it, correct? I'll buy the cooler, so I think I need a new case, not the one you tried to list.

Thanks for the reply once again. :)

There are lots of different case options. I've used this case before and for how cheap it is it's actually really good and would fit the 212.

If you don't like the looks of that I can look for something else. Those 280X's are the same so you're good. :good:

Do you have a need for a disc drive or an operating system? What about peripherals like mouse, keyboard, monitor, or anything else?

Yeah, that case is good. :) Isn't a disc drive a must have? And no, I don't need any peripherals. So everything will fit in that case, correct?
