Building a new pc -videocard -power supply

Probably just gonna keep my old power supply and graphics card, but then again who cares about power supplies:D.

So basically I'm goin for the best I can get for good money and to me, so far this is lookin pretty good. So this is what i got lined up for my lil beast so far:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750

From the reviews ive read a great processor and an awesome overclocker. Some people have reached 4.2ghz with it :eek: which honestly amazes me. I probaby wont even get near 4.0ghz. And its 85$ less than the E6850 only loosing .34ghz from it which seems like a great deal

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3P Rev 2.0

Not as sure on this as the processor but a very good board for the price I think. With a p35 chipset it seems to be a good choice to me. it supports DDR2 1066 aka PC2 8500 which is relatively fast in todays market.

Kingston has always been good to me when I've used it.

Heatskink/fan: ZALMAN CNPS9700

I'm not sure if i even should get a new heatsink, ive heard the ones that come with the new duos are actually good. Hopefully this will be even better and let me overclock well.

Case: Sunbeam Quarterback

4 x 120mm fans, i think thats really the only reason i chose it lol.


So thats my plan, hows it looking? any major things I should worry about with these parts? Anything you think would be a better choice on any of them? Im open to any suggestions.

I care about PSU. You need to make sure you have a quality PSU! A crappy PSU can demage your hardwares, and in worst case, cause house fire!!

RAM: I will use Crucial RAM rather than Kingston. And I personally will use a cheaper DDR2 800 RAM and OC it.
 
go with the quad core Q6600 instead of the 6750 its much better especially in the long run. also lose that ram and get something like 2GB corsair DDR2 800. other then that, all seems well with your setup (except your comment on power supplies, they can be the most crucial part of your entire computer, and in some cases, even the most expensive!)

Well the q6600 is about 90 dollars more and has a lower fsb of 1066MHz, lower clock of 2.4ghz. It runs rather hot and doesn't overclock as well. Plus not many programs im going to be using will be utilizing the quad core in the near future. I may upgrade to one later though when the whole quad core thing looses its big new thing appeal and comes down to a more reasonable price.

I think i am gonna get ddr2 800 instead now that i think about it. Oh and the power supply thing, i just mean you dont see a bunch of people nerding out over new power supplies coming out or benchmarking and overclocking em. Less of a glam item more of a foundation.
 
A PSU is not a glam Item, your correct. It is the heart of your system, as the motherboard is central nervous system and the cpu is the brain and the video card the eyes.

You must not think of the PSU as just a part. Not really important.

It runs your entire system. If you go cheap your system runs the chance of dying an early death. Or even being still born.

Well, my point was that noone makes a big deal over them and mine is fine for what i need it to do. Not that its not an important item, thats why i said its a foundation for everything else.

wat r u goin to be usin it for, how big is the psu u have now and wat gpu do u have?
