Building a new PC!!!

I am bulding a new PC around a x1900XTX ATI 512 video card.

My money goes to about $1000 but this is going over time so that may not be all the money i can spend. This is going to be a AMD build.

i have a dell 8300 form '03 and want to keep the moniter, keyboard, mouse, and HD.

I just got the X1900XTX from a friend and need everything else including:

Atleast a equivalent of a intel 3.0 but want a AMD and not shying away from any dual core chips,

want a Mobo that can support SLI and Crossfire and Dual CPU's,

need a PSU of Atleast 520 of good quality,

need a case that can contain this with decent cooling but keeping it under $100 (unless this is unwise)

Besides that, where do i go to buy this, what brands, and what flaws do i have?

Any info is very helpful. yes this is the first time i ever built a system and may I say it is quite a learning experience and i am having fun.

2. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ DUAL CORE

3. Stock CPU Fan (AMD64)

4. Corsair XMS 1GB DDR400 (2x512MB) going to take some from my old system

5. Lian-Li PC7H Mid Tower w/ Window (black)

6. Seasonic S12 600W

7. Lite On DVD/CDRW Combo (black) --- ( is this a DVD and a CD player?)

8. Floppy Drive (black)

9. Windows XP MCE 2005

all that for 1,400 is that alot or is it good prices?

See any flaws or holes let me know.

You probably don't need a floppy. They are sort of...dead. Not much to run on them nowadays. As for the lite on, specify what make. They are different, I think.
 
As for the lite on --- well i don't really care as long as it runs dvd's and CD's

I guess i would take the one from my old computer

If you're using an ATI card, take a look at the Asus A8R-MVP instead. That board doesn't support Crossfire.

With this sort of system, 2GB of memory might be a better idea

Yes, but why not look at a DVD-RW for a few dollars more

all that for 1,400 is that alot or is it good prices?

Total from newegg: $904
Cost of Radeon X1900XTX: $580

Therefore total cost incl X1900XTX: $1484, so yes $1400 with the X1900XTX is good value.

you could get a better/cheaper PSU like a Hiper Type-R 580w or n Enermax Modualr thing-
Otherwise seems fine- but i dont understand why your paying the extra money for the 4200, you should go with a X2 3800+ and OC it, cos it can go way higher than a 4200-

then couldn't i OC the 4200 even higher then the 3800 or are you saying the 3800 is a better cpu?

Already have the X1900xtx and planning on using the DVD, HD, mouse, keyboard , and screen from my old dell (8300 from '03)

Am i missing any parts? is there any flaws? do all these parts go together?
 
that asus A8R MVP board is nice, and its good that it works with yoiur vid card to upgrade to crossfire later, just an option. that latest build seems like it will be nice for you.
