Building a new system: Vista or XP Pro?

I'm looking for the first time into building a new computer. I have heard almost no good things about vista. Should I look to stick with XP Pro?

Thanks,

Josh

I have a whole computer pieced together through newegg.com if anyone could look at everthing I have selected and give me feedback that would be great. I can e-mail you the product list.

It depends what you're doing with it. If you have legacy apps that simply can NOT run on Vista, that are mandatory for usage and can't be updated to Vista support, then yes, run XP. If you're an older individual (such as 40's or older) where new technology poses a challenge to adapt, then XP is a good fit for you. Otherwise Vista is the way to go.

Two examples come to mind. One is a senior citizen client that got overwhelmed with the new way Vista does things. XP was a perfect fit for her. The other was a doctor client that had a bicycle program for a stationary bike. It would NOT run on Vista, no matter what, and the manufacturers of the software had absolutely no interest in making it Vista compatible.. It was a bit of a trick, but I rolled the laptop back to XP for him and bingo... :)

Reply to this thread with the specs. Is this a gaming computer, or for the internet, Office apps, etc?

Mild Gaming PC. I don't run any advanced graphic games like WoW or CS. I play a 2d based graphics game named "Tibia" that doesn't require much. The computer will be a lot of office and internet apps.

Thanks,

Josh
