There is certainly money to be saved here. Your processor and motherboard alone cost a little less than my whole system with a monitor! Are you playing games? I don't play games, so I probably am not the person to talk to about games. But, if you do everything else and light or middle range gaming, you can save money or build two systems. Maybe three systems :) Here would be everything, including quad-core processor, for less.

-Monitor - I specify Mitsubishi, but you are shopping Newegg. How about an Acer monitor for $220? Or you can get one for $150.
-Case - A $20 - 40 case is OK. $60 maximum...
-Motherboard - how about a Biostar (with AMD Phenom support) for $84.99?
-Processor - Phenom (quad core Agena) - $149 - I wouldn't need anything more but a dual core but you might be a gamer, so...just stick with AMD as Intel processors are rip-offs. Not that they don't perform well, but they cost more than their AMD counterparts because of the name.
-Memory - have 1 GB per core - you have 4 cores...so you need 4 GB. That's $100 or so.
-Fans and heatsink. You need a fan/heatsink for your Northbridge. $15
(your processor already has a fan)
-You can keep your hard drive(99) and power supply (99) - consider RAID though.
Next time I build I am going to do a RAID system - I only need an Athlon X2 though.
-You can keep your video card (150) and your DVD burner. (23)
-Keyboard/mouse - no more than $15 together.

Total $1065 - I allocated about 150 for xtras-you might want to use it for RAID. Save $600 for a mainstream system or a laptop.

OK, everything looks good,

1. - Don't get DDR3, not work it!
2. - Also get a radeon 4870
3. - What is your budget???
4. - What is the main use of the PC??

well the big problems i see with that are the processor and the motherboard. you can get a good motherboard for about $150 and get a q6600 or an e8400 for less than $200 and you just saved yourself about $400 take that extra money and get a better graphics card like a ati 4870 and maybe a better power supply like a thermaltake, corsair, or pc power and cooling. the ddr3 is unnecessary, go with 4gb of ddr2 800 or 1066 which will probably be cheaper than the 2gb of ddr3. i'm not a big fan of the liquid cooling either but thats just personal preference and i'm pretty sure you wont be needing it. after all of that you have a high end system that didnt make you look dumb for spending too much

i wouldn't get a case with liquid cooling built in, kits suck, and i think for that price you could get an 8800gts
