so which is better building a pc or buying one.. I recently had a discussion with my neighbor who said that the pc i built which is in my profile excluding a few little things like hardrive 300gig and power supply blah blah would it be cheaper to just buy premade systems now adays or can u build exact same systems from people such as dell and whatever for the same cost or cheaper??

Ha u can buy a same performace computer from dell cheaper?! Does ur neighbor happen to be an idiot haha. The more expensive computer u buy ultimatly the more money u r going to save if u build it instead of buying it.

well after this poll gets some good results im showing him that i think hes wrong to be honest lol ......... it would be fun to get some people posting competition though so we can get some heated debates.

Anything over than $600ish, youre better off building yourself.
Also the parts you use when building yourself are much higher quality

I've heard that DELL used parts from anywhere... Although DELL is my favorite next to Custom. Never had one break down on me. (Even thought I only own one... :D)

1 small issue!

There is a major problem with the poll, yes it is cheaper to buy one built. This is mainly due to the fact that they will get better deals on mostly crappier parts.

However, if dell were to sell you the same computer you put together, of course it would be cheaper to buy and build it yourself.

There are 2 type of computer users out there, those who use a computer, and those who love to use computers! I would say 95% of those who love to use their computer would build one (of course the ability to pay for it has nothing to do with this thought).

Now that I read that it looks confusing, but you know what I mean.

Ok don't mean to tread jack but this guy who sits behind me in comp 1 said he had a computer with "the best" quad core and dual 8800gtx. He also said he got it from Best Buy for $800. I was like WTF!!!

I was just wondering if he had absolutly NO idea is to what he was talking about or this is actually possible?

P.S. I think he's full of shit because he said he had a pentium quad core, Ha.

He just doesn't quite know what he'd talking about...
I agree that building yourself is cheaper, except maybe for the cheapest of all builds... but even then, I am not sure cuz I wouldn't dare to put as bad junk in my computer as prebuilt do.

 He probably also has an 11-second Honda Civic...or maybe one of those Mustang GT-R's with a turbo rotary...:P

I'd kick him next time I saw him.

Just like the guy who sits in FRONT of me that says he can Tri SLi his 8800 Ultra... and he has a Intel "Delux" Motherboard with a QX9650....

Then he claims only a 400MHz overclock is possible with that Quad :P And then... that he has 16MB of cache because he overclocked :D
