Hey all thanks for the replies, i haven't checked this thread since that last post since i got slammed at the lab/with finals so this is the first day in awhile that i'm back to being semi sane

. So anyway I'm about to finally put this computer together in a day or so when i head home for the holidays and i wondered if anyone had some advice/tips for first time computer builders. Such as anti static wrist band vs anti static mat and any other helpful tools i might need...thanks again!
On a wood flore or spread out cardboard, wear the wristband, you could just be touching a metal part of the case when you pick up the parts. Assymbling on cardboard wouldn't hurt. You could use the ati-static bag the MB/other parts came in to temp. lay something on.
It's important, but not hard to manage. I didn't use a bracelet and just used the antistatic bags and toucked the case to make sure.
May be easier to install the cpu and cooler b4 installing the MB.
Sata port 1 won't be designated for the hdd with the os on it, but it's a good place for it.
In the bios:
1) May not need to change the MB port mode for the optical, but you could check the MB manual and see. If it has that option, it will also be noted in the bios when you highlight that/those port(s), it would probly be port 5 if it matters.
2) Set the optical as 1st boot device/priority.
When installing Windows you can partion as size for C: if you wish, and leave the other partition(D: ) for storage.
Check for newest chipset and GPU driver's from thier maunfacturers. And load those.
Other programs and drivers.
When it's up and running check to see what the memory is running at since the default may be lower than its rating.
You can check back here and dl cpuz/pc wizard/hw monitor if ya want, and that will give you some system details.
