I want to start a small one, from home... Like get a client to specify what they'll be doing with the computer and such...

Then, I go and build it. :)

You guys got any tips or anything? Thanks!

well i build , most times and upgrade if needed.
It's good if you need quick Cough*cough**money**cough**.
On weekends i mostly work on 2 pcs or maybe more depends on my time.

It's a good start and make sure you also install there stuff correctly , advice them about proper security protocols etc..

so you're only building ? why not support ? like go to their homes etc (freelance to be precise)

I can't really give you any tips other than start building for your friends, If you still got any friends after 6 months then you must be doing it right :D

I've built a few for my friends and family and it gave me confidence, but never went any further with it.

HaHa! So, see if I still have friends in 6 months time, Ok, Sure! :P

I've upgraded a few of my friends computers, but never built them a full one...

Go for it. But get yourself like 10k and when you get requested to build something make sure the give you 1/4 (a depsot) so it wont be hehe we dont need it anymore. And when you build it they give you the 3/4;) Also give them 6mths - 1 year warrenty

A tip: don't stick too much money into it because you never know if it will take off or not

It may sound gloomy but I still wish you the best of luck :D

Thanks guys! :)

What about pricing and such, how much should you look to charge for something, obviously making a profit...

Geeksquad charges $250 to get your pc fixed (software) and its double that on the weekends. LOL They rip people off big time and they dont even know anything.

I Say get leopard on your pc and use the .web thingy that creates your site. I hand't use it yet (and wont) but it seems pretty easy.
