Building Desktop PC Pls give advice on my selection

So I am trying to build a computer by myself for the first time and I was wondering if any of you would be gracious enough to take the look at my list and recommend anything else.

I have a budget of max $1,100 and I need it to include a keyboard, OS, monitor and all the components that make up a good gaming rig and good for multitasking. I posted it on reddit and already got advice from one guy but I would appreciate more.

OK looks pretty good to me. Save money and get an FX-8320 though, no need to buy the 8350 really. Also consider the Radeon 7850 and 7870 graphics cards, they might be cheaper than than the NVIDIA one you're looking at.

Otherwise it looks like a pretty solid build to me.
 
Looks great as spirit said. I would get a 3570K and UD3H though instead of AMD, as most games only use 2 cores, much less 8, and the IPC of the i5 will be better, making the i5 a better choice. Get RAM from Corsair or G.Skill. I would look at the 7870, not the 7850 as that will be worse then the 660 ti by a fair bit. But the 7870 will only be a bit cheaper and wont have physx or cuda, so I would stay with a 660 Ti. I would go with evga also.
 
Okay thanks. I looked breifly at the other graphic cards and one of them they discontinued apparently and for the 7870, will i notice a difference if I go with this graphics card over the other one or is there not a huge difference in performance between the two of them? Also, this may sound silly, how am i going o know how to put this together? It'll come with instructions right?
 
IIRC, the 7870 is a little faster than the 660 Ti. I think it;s cheaper though.

And no, it won't come with instructions. You might want to hit YouTube and start watching some videos on how to assemble it all.
 
But the 3750k is like 50 more and i have a budget of 1100. how come you recommend the other motherboard over the one i have picked out already?
 
The GTX 660 Ti will be similar to the HD 7870. The 3570K is only $20 more then the FX and the reason I said that motherboard is because the 3570K requires a different motherboard. The motherboard will come with instructions to hook up cables to the board but you will need youtube for building the whole PC.

They've been getting closer and closer to 8-core games, especially with the PS4 having 8 cores. Take a look at Crysis 3 benchmarks:

Right now the i5 has a bigger advantage as it has a higer IPC and still has 4 cores. If games start using 8 cores and AMD is the only one that makes affordable 8 cores, Ok, but for now I would get a i5 and wait for Haswell.
 
The XFX 550w power supply you picked is a good choice. Not big enough for cf/sli. Either board would work about as well because adding a 2nd gpu would require changing ps's too. Might as well plan on just upgrading the single card when that future day comes. The 970A would allow 2133 memory at budget.
 
Are you sure you want Windows 8?

I might be completely out of line here but I have spent some time with win8 and for me I would never want it on a desktop.

OS choice is just a matter of preference. What may not work for you may work for him. :)

If you actually customize it and pin programs you use, and get rid of the junk on it, it's quite nice. Here's a screenshot of mine. (2560x1440)

Besides that, it boots faster, has native mounting, MSE built in, and is snappy.
