would this be a good gaming computer?

Intel Core i3
MSI B75A-G43 Intel B75 (Socket 1155) Motherboard
Novatech Prowler Midi Case V2
Novatech PowerStation Gaming 500W Silent Power Supply
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB
Seagate Barracuda 500GB
LiteOn DVD+/-RW SATA

Would like to know what you would buy and wound not buy

Thanks Ed

No, crucial makes okay memory, but not the best. Also, the power supply is by a retailer, probably low quality, and case, I'm pretty sure would be low quality. Msi makes reasonable motherboards, but I would go with a gigabyte. Is this a barebones? Just pick your own parts.

PS: Micron chips are what Crucial uses. They are among the best. Mobo is fine, PSU is the only thing id be wary of, but otherwise it looks OK, only thing really would hold you back with that build would be the chipset, G43 is kinda a low end setup, but it should do relatively well.

Yes you need a graphics card too and drop the Novatech PSU for a Corsair CX 600. I've used the Novatech units in the past (Novatech is where I shop and Novatech put these PSUs in their pre-built systems) and they're OK but definitely not the best. The power supply is the most important part of your system.

Looks OK, one important thing though.

Only buy Power Supplies from good companies, Corsair is my favourite. Some cheap power supplies can blow up and destroy some of your other components as well! Always buy Power Supplies from well known companies.

Is it necessary to buy a branded power supply even though my unit is kinda out dated?

can anyone recommend another brand of PSU, corsair is kinda expensive in our area, more expensive than my i3..

There are many corsairs, you are looking online, right? That is how you get the cheaper ones. You can get a nice corsair for $75 (Dont get CX).OCZ,Antec,Seasonic, XFX and silverstone are good.PC power and cooling, NZXT are fine.I would deffinatly get a Seasonic, they make quite a few corsair units, and XFX psus.

I've seen a cheap one, Corsair TX series 80Plus Bronze 650w, is it doable?

How about Thermaltake? are they reliable?

im gonna stick to corsair then, isnt it overkill for mediocre mobo and gpu?

another question about temp, my cpu and gpu temp are ranging from 50 to 60, is it safe or rather normal temperature for an hardware?

Does that mobo support an i3?
That graphics card doesn't require a 650W PSU. So unless you're planning on upgrading or using multiple GPUs, the Antec I linked to first is completely fine.
