Hello.

I am currently building my new rig which has

ASUS P5B Deluxe+Wifi
&
Intel Core 2 Duo e6400

I don't plan to massively overload this comp, nor do I plan to overclock(at least right away).... will the stock Intel fan be enough? Or do i HAVE to install a ZALMAN (or the like)

I've heard the intel fan is sufficient, but just making sure...

Thank you

If you're not going to OC right away then the stock HSF will be fine, but you'll want to get a Zalman or Thermaltake HSF later.

With Core 2 Duos, quite a bit. Personally, I tend to favour an aftermarket heatsink when overvolting, as this generates significantly more heat. You'll probably be able to manage a 25-30% overclock without resorting to this, however.

Naturally, the level of airflow within the case itself is an important consideration as well.

The stock fan is fairly quiet, you can enable various idle noise reduction features on the Core 2 to make it even quieter.

No, when you take it out of the box, look at the bottom. You'll see 3 lines of silver stuff on the copper contact area, that is the preapplied thermal paste. I found the preapplied stuff worked fairly well and there's not much improvement to be had by removing it and adding your own.
