Building Media PC, need advice :)

Hey Guys,

I decided to take my old compaq, and make it a media PC. The current specs are:

P4- 1.7 Ghz
1 gig ram
30 gb hard drive

I'm looking into upgrading my 30gb to 200gb, and am also looking to upgrade my video (i lost the video card for this computer, its a long story). Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could recommend a good, yet decent price video card for me.

well ur gonna have to look at ur mobo and see wat kinda of graphics slot u have? agp or pci-e or pci. im gonna say agp, but take a look.

oh, get a tv card as well as a good video card. u can use it to record tv! DVR! for free! lol.
a decent card for just a media pc would be the x1300 or the x1600...
for nvidia the 6200 or 6600gt would be good
the x1600 and 6600gt is if u wanna do games as well.

yea you definately should get a hauppage tv card.
for a video card, you wont need much.. i say look at specs of video cards, as hdtv/component out are all that you will need. x300-x700 would be fine. i say go ATI for you media video card. the all-in-wonders have everything you need, and nvidia does not offer this.
