i have a bigger question, is this guy building a better computer then mine(amd 64) for less price look at the specs

i'm choosing parts for a new PC and thought I would post them here and get all of your opinions before I ordered.

rosewill black atx mid tower case, model "r214p" -retail $29. 99

optorite 12x dvd+/-rw dual layer drive, model dd1205, retail $56. 99

western digital 80gb 7200rpm SATA hard drive, model wd800jd, oem drive only $66. 25

corsair value select 184 pin 512mb ddr pc-3200 - retail 2pcs x $70. 27

chaintech nVidia geforce fx5700le video card, 256mb ddr, 128-bit, dvi/tv-out, agp, model "sa5700l" -retail $98. 00

i am ordering all of this from newegg. Com, with these parts the total is $739. 71 with shipping. I don't want to spend anymore than this.

is this a decent setup? I play a few games but I don't care if the graphics are on high.
also, since the hdd is oem do I need to order cables for it?

thanks for your help,
sven

A moniter for 30$!!? That's gonna be a tricky one.. Also, expect a bit more then 35$ for a case. For a decent case & PSU its gonna be around 50$. Other then that, make sure you buy from newegg to save money.

ps thats hell of a machine for that price

i hope it doesnt bottle neck (whatever that means). and also i hope i wont be making a bad choice, sometimes that feels so right ..........can go so wrong.

I bought a case for $30, came with a 450watt PSU too. It's a crap @$$ case...and the PSU is light as a feather...but it's run my gf's rig for months now. i would suggest better though..the case is horrible and PSU has no warranty.

DVD RW/ DUAL RECORDING ($56) ;)
Whats the make and model

anything misssing??????
Sound, PSU and more importantly, a HSF.

OPPPPPPSSS CAPS LOCK :o
Lets not ever do that again

Technically yes but both him and you can do much better :)

ps thats hell of a machine for that price
But can stil be made a lot better :) (Hmmmm A64-2800/S-3100 + NF3)

praetor you sound like you know a lot about pc's, are you a tech :P person,wow...ummm when you say buid a better system, what do you recomend, i saw what you wrote, but be mmore expecific. i want to learn about stuff while i do this, the reason i chose my parts was because i though i was supose to make everything run at 4000 fbs...... and now i hear of this amd64, i was like...oh man.. im so left back behind.

i dont want to make you check price or anything, but i the top of your head, with a budget of 600-750, which components would you use to make a better comp tan the kids or mines,,

pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (begging time) eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
thanks man, dont worry to hurry, take your time i check this post every day, ;)

are you a tech person
Yes

person,wow...ummm what do you think about the other guy computer, I have a 800 with me, spend money I call it. but if it comes out to less the better. look at the specs of my machine(soon to be) , and look at the other guys, its his perfomance worth going to amd64, or should I build this system, and I will be hapy playing halo 2 half like 2, and what eva else I put for the next 2-3 years
The other computer is better handsdown but you could tweak it around and get an even better system :)

hey proator, i have been looking at your system specs,im gonna try and get your mobo and the cpu ram, althoul the video card seems on the expensivce side, but i can substitude for a x800 9800 ati,,,,,what do you think

proaeor i been loking itnto youe specs and notice that your mobo is not nforce 2 or 3 or even 4,,,why its that....do you recomemnd me your systerm,or do you think they are better stuff out hee for me,,reffer me to something a donkey a cow bell, something, im so lost man........

I had an nForce2 before I upgraded. The reason I dont have another NF is because ASUS and Abit dont make them (at the time I considered buying). I dont particularly like some of the nuances with MSI boards (which would be the only NF3-250 id ever consider) so the options werent available.

You can certainly substitute ... you might want to hunt down a 6600/6600GT/X700 though :)

i believe his is a KT-800...it's Via not nvidia made. 64-bit right now is pretty popular on a Via. Are you sure you can get his system plus w/e else you need for $800?? seems like it would be more...maybe i'm wrong.

K8T800Pro ... the K8T800 was for Socket754 :)

Hell no .. the cpu and vc will ensure that objective will fail. Wait ... $800USD ... maybe doable. Not doable if you factor in the drive array and ram and stuff though. You can do it with a Socket754 though
