hi ive started build ing my own computer from scratch and so far i have got a case, i fitted my asus m2n-sli motherboard, a quad core amd phenom prcessor, 2gb of ram, psu = 580w, nvidia 9400gt super+1gb graphics card.

plugged it all in and it wont reach post there is no beep and no picture, the fan is running the light is on the motherboard.

i have no idea of were to go from here.

a bit of help please???

Are you sure there is an internal speaker? The beeps dont come through your regular stereo speakers. If everything sounds like it powers up but there is no display then my first guess would be graphics card. Does the light on the monitor turn to a solid green?

Boot it from the onboard video. Remove everything except mainboard, processor mouse and keyboard. That will tell you if the graphics card is the problem. If it still won't boot then check all the connections. Be sure the 12V ATX power cable (and everything else) is connected. Check for bent pins on the CPU. Understand that you need to connect the power switch from the case or short the pins on the board to boot. Just connecting the power supply isn't enough. If the fans run, then I assume you took care of that. If all of that doesn't help then come back.

erm yeah the screen turns on with a green light but then turn amber quickly it says no signal before it turns amber i havent connected the case wires like usb and audio will that effect it, i cant because there is no space for them on the motherboard.

if its the graphics card i have fitted it into the pci slot and screwed to back of case, there are to little things to connect a wire to on the graphics card but nothing else came with the card would that be it.

i had a bad HDD that prevented my mobo from posting once if thats any help. If you have another AM2 PC around your gonna have to interchange parts till you find the problem. This is the worst part of PC building :(
