Building My First Computer

Keeping it simple, roughly an AMD3200 would be equivalent to a Pent 3.2, as a sempron 3000 would be equivalent to a celeron 3.0gig, of which both of these are slower then the afore mentioned as they are their budget chips. And if I'm mistaken, I'm sure I'll hear about it. If you plan any gaming, go AMD

Any particular reason you're buying a DVDRAM burner?

That kinda sucks... Well my budget is pretty much <$700, I'm going to need to save up a little, though. I won't be using the computer for gaming hardly at all, I just want it to be fast enough so that I can have Winamp, the internet, Limewire, Outlook, etc. open and running smoothly.

- AMD Athlon64 X2 3800 [S939, Manchester, ADA3800DAA5BV]($322)
- DFI Nforce4 Infinity($95.99)
- Buffalo MAJOR 2x512 [CL2.5]($74.33)
- Maxtor DiamondMax10 250GB 16MB($98)
- MSI RX800-TD128E($105 after $30MIR)
- Benq DQ60($37.99)
- Logisys Area51 Case + 450W [12V@25A]($37.5)
SUBTOTAL = $770.81

A bit over your budget but handsdown destroys your system left right and center.... if we switch to Intel box then we have
- Intel PentiumD 820($243)
- ASUS P5PL2($96)
- Wintec AMPO 2x512 PC2-4200($58.44)
- NEC3550A($39.75)
- Maxtor DiamondMax10 250GB [16MB]($98)
- MSI RX800-TD128E($105 after $30MIR)
- Logisys Area51 Case + 450W [12V@25A]($37.5)
SUBTOTAL = $677.69

AMD processors are made differently, and they whoop the intels a$$
Easy on the fanboyism

Allright, well I'll probably go with the 3200+ then. One last (hopefully) question: what is the advantage/difference of having a higher power PS? Compare a 400w PS to a 500w PS for me, would ya?
PSU 101

What does it mean when power supplies have multiple +12V ratings? For example, on this Aspire PS:

+12V1@16A, +12V2@18A

Edit: Also, about the main power cords. Do the pins on the mobo and PS have to match up? Could I run a 20+4 pin PS with a 24 pin mobo? What are the compatibilities?

Edit #2: What about this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817170010 It doesn't have any amp ratings, and its cheap... I'm skeptical...
