Building my first gaming pc!

ok, so the old family pc has been sitting around gathering dust for a couple of years. I've decided to turn it into a gaming pc, I've taken it apart to see what components i have and if they are to old to be used.
After going through it, i've decided to keep my sound card which i cant find on the internet, this is all it had on it SCE570074-VPI56SPA.
And my hard drive. Diamond Max 10 6L250S0.
CD drive is ok, as well as the power supply for now.

What i really need help is with finding a new motherboard and graphics card! Im looking to spend up to £70-£80 on the motherboard and up to £50 on the graphics card.
Motherboard would have to be 12x9.6in and i've seen one i like already. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-M5A97-...1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1342295124&sr=1-4

Graphics card i haven't really looked into yet.
Another big question is how can i check that the new parts will work with the old?

What's the make and model of the computer?

And chances are, if the power supply is the same one that came with the computer, it would not have enough power for a graphics card. Can you post the make and model of the power supply, along with how many watts?

I cant remember the make and model, couldn't find a box or anything for it in the house.
as for the power supply, Model number ATX-300GTF +12v/18A

Found a Date on the PC we got it 25/08/2005. So i wouldn't be surprised if i needed a new power supply and sound card.

If you want any other information just ask :)
