Building my first gaming pc!

Well i'm trying to build it at least....I've been looking around trying to find the best prices, because i'm on a tight budget, but I'm hoping prices will drop soon for Christmas Sales and whatnot. And I have a few questions and i figured this would be the easiest and quickest way to get answers. Ok, my budget is around $800-$900, and I'm wanting to build a machine that will allow me to play all the latest games, i.e. F.E.A.R, BF2, and i'm sure theres more, smoothly. For my CPU, I'm looking at an AMD, but i'm not sure if I should get the Athlon 64 3800+ or the 4000+, possibly even the 64 X2 4200+. Any suggestions there?
And for my motherboard i was thinking maybe a DFI Lanparty, are these decent? and yes I will be trying some overclocking soon. And I already have one 512 stick of PC2700, but this motherboard says PC3200, can i still use the PC 2700 stick?
As for graphics card, i wanted a 7800GT, but seeing as I don't have too much cash, i was thinking one of the 6800s maybe GT or GS. Will these run the latest games at high settings?
And for RAM i was thinking maybe a second 512 stick to make 1G, maybe Corsair brand? Any good news from them?
That's basically all the parts worth mentioning as others play a smaller role in the gaming speed. Any help would be very much appretiated! Thanks in advance!

yes Dfi Lanparty are good mobo's also take a look at the an8 Sli its what I have..great mobo for the price..
then you might want to get 6600Gt card...about -150$
im pretty sure you cant use the 2700 ram on a 3200 ram slot...(just me thinking)
yes 6 series video cards will run all the games you mention on high settings.
you will need 1g.b ram (pc3200 i suggest) to play bf2
Corsair and OCZ are good brands also inexpensive..
......
If you want a really good inexpensive first build check out my sig or pm me i will help you further...

Thanks a ton for the help guys! I will more than likely send you a PM soon SAD DC, thanks again.

It is important that you have good RAM for that mobo though, its very picky. With a stick of K-Byte PC2700 my rig would not boot. So you may only recognize the high performance PC3200 or refuse to boot.

lol I see...

But if you post on the forum, there can be feedback from others as well as possibly finding lower prices, incompatibilities etc :) (and other people can learn from it too)

yes well im pretty sure he will post what he is getting before he orders anything..well at least I hope so lol...

Thanks for your help Praetor! I already have a 200g HDD, and DVD/CD Drives, so that should knock of about 140ish from that list you gave me. Is there anything I could upgrade with those extra savings?

Ok, so i've made a few changes, how's it looking now?
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Mobo: DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D ATX
GPU: eVGA GeForce 7800GT 256mb
RAM: Patriot Signature Series 2x512mb DDR
PSU: ?? Can anyone recommend a good and cheap one for this setup?

i was hoping to play BF2, CS, umm. HL2, and probably AOE3, i think it should be able to run all those games pretty fast.

NICE same games that I play :)....
anyways...bf2 will take up most of the "power" to run
because I tried running it on my 2 year old pc *no luck*
the game requires 6 series video card.
but if you get all of the stuff you mentioned there you will definatly love your set up and will also be able to play those games and more with out a problem..

Awesome, we'll have to play together when i get it, lol.
Thanks for all the help. BTW that's a very nice PSU, and i'm definately adding that to the list.
