Hi, so I am finally taking the dive and building a pc for my family and I (I'm 14) I have been browsing TigerDirect.ca and Newegg.ca (I'm in Canada) and I came across this deal on a barebone kit at TigerDirect:

For only $350 bucks after rebate!!! What are your guy's thoughts on this system, I think its pretty good :D (I've got a budget of less than $500 to work with, and We're going to be using the computer for web browsing, gaming, word processing, etc...)

As for other components that we need, I chose:

These 2 case fans (one fancy one for the front):

This video card:

I already have a Plexwriter cd-drive, so I got that covered...

(I may get another 2 gigs of RAM for $30, do you think its worth going from 2GB's to 4?)

Is there anything else that I'm missing? Cables, fans, etc....

Does the motherboard come with an ethernet card, or wireless card (some way of connecting to the internet,)

Oh, and does this barebone kit come with an Operating System? If not, I might go with Linux, any thoughts on this?

Thanks

I'd go with it, and once you save up some more money get new RAM, HDD and CPU... and a graphics card of course! It might be good to wait till the Radeon 5000 series comes out so that ATI drops their prices on the 4000 series.

Umm... Like I said, I will be using the computer for web browsing, gaming, word processing, etc.... So would Linux work okay for games, can't you download a program that allows you to install Windows Games (WINE, and some others)

Oh, and just so you know, I decided to go with a different graphics card:

I thought that the performace increase would be substantial (2X from what reviews I have been reading) and its only like $20 more, so yeah.... this graphics card can run most games on high or max, right?

Oh, and Bodaggit23, it will be WAY faster than what I have now (REALLY old dell dimension 4300S, with 512 mb RAM, 120 GB HDD, old Pentium 4 1.4 ghz and an ATI Rage 128 PRO w/16 mb of vram) LOL :D
