Building My Own Rig, Need Some Help.

I'm going to be building my first computer, and I would like some advice on how I can make it cheaper, without losing too much performance. I think I have the price and performance balanced at this point though. And one last thing, what games am I looking at that I can play? I like just about anything, I'm really into cars so racing games would be good. Would this rig be able to play games that need a lot of good looking environments like said racing games/simulators? I guess with that question I'm mainly asking what years I could play games from. Thanks for any help.

That's already cheap. I don't see how you can go any cheaper without buying crap.

You could always ditch the optical drive.

Get a less expensive case and you'll see it drop by about $20.. You won't be able to play any new titles higher than low-medium.

To be honest, that video card looks really weak in my opinion. You'd be better off with a GTX 650 ti, if you can find a used one you might be able to get it for $60-80, and it's much better. You might be looking at playing some of the newer games, not brand new but newer, at minimum settings. In fact the 8800 gtx, an excellent card for its time, is better than the r7 240 by a fair amount. It's comparable to the GTX 240, which is the minimum for a number of 2012-2014 games. So if you're on a tight budget, I'd actually look on kijiji or something for a better used video card. Otherwise, look to play older games without much room for being able to play new games.

Yeah, the Radeon 240 is a turd sandwich.

I built a G3258 rig for my stepdad that handles iRacing pretty well, but it's paired with a 7870 GHz.
Add some more cash to the GPU side if you can.

You can get a cheaper case, slightly cheaper power supply, and you can probably find a better deal on a hard drive than that. But you really should get a better video card.
