Building new box have some questions.

I have been reading up on some of the new stuff on the market as I have not built a pc since about 2003. I am behind the times and boy did I ever find out how lost I was... In attempting to get up to speed I have been pricing out some sytems and I am just wondering about efficiency and function. I put together an Intel and an AMD machine through newegg and I found one prebuilt on E-bay that has a nice price tag, but not sure if it will be worth while. One of my main concerns is with this SLI ; 3-way vs. ugh not 3-way lol. With the items that I selected I am not entirely sure that between the processor, mother board, RAM, and Vid card that they are compatible or If I would be buying stuff that won't be wasteful and not utilizing the system to its full potential. If you could look over these three systems and give me any input I would greatly appreciate it.

*I am looking to do some gaming, not as hard core as I used to be, but also some video editing and DVD publishing. Running Vegas / Architect. I plan to run Vista Home Premium 64. Unless otherwise advised.

Thanks in advance for your input!

if i were you, i wouldnt look into anything but core i7 from now on. you can get a very impressive i7 build for around a grand like you posted. also, keep in mind the cpu slot type when chosing a cpu fan if your doing a custom build. core i7 only has a few compatible aftermarket coolers.

Thanks for the feed back I appreciate the input. Still looking for "spot check" on the system over all use of all components. Thanks again!

if you want to cheat, this is a build we will be assembling for my computer hardware class in the upcoming weeks.

Thanks for the list. I may switch the vid card though if I were to go off this list. Really have my heart set on the 9800GT. I have had problems with Radeon in the past and would like the 1G. That would likely put me in the same price range I am at with my Intel build.

I also noticed you did not have a cpu fan listed? Any suggestions?

Why set one the 9800GT? Its a good performer for the price, but a 4850 or, since you obviously prefer nVidia, the 9800GTX+ or gts250 would all smoke the 9800GT for only a bit of extra cash.

Thanks for all the help guys I think I am going to go with the First one I priced out. Appreciate all the input! BTW I am going with the 9800gtX+ FTW!
