Building new computer, need help please

hi. building this computer. on a fairly tight budget so nothing too fancy and was wondering if i had everything and if it would all work together. not really too sure what im doing either! i think i have taken everything into account, but if there is anything ive missed, please let me know!

i dont really know which is better. im quite open to other suggestions for the processor seeing as im not really sure what constitutes as a good processor. i looked at the base i5 but im fairly sure that the AMD ones are better... same size cache, both have 6MB L3 cache and various other L1, L2 caches. im not sure if the extra cores and larger cache on the hexacore processor balances out the higher clock speed of the quad core processor?

comes to around £500 which is approximately $700 i think. is it worth the money i would be paying? do i have all the hardware needed to make a working computer?(aside from mouse, screen etc..) im open to any suggestions on different items so long as the are roughly the same price. i will be using this computer for a mixture of gaming, 3D modeling and very high detail photoshop use. i will be using an HD moniter with 1920x1080 resolution. this is probably the resolution i would be working at, or multiples of this.

For 3D modelling and gaming you will need better than a 5570, and you can get your parts cheaper from Scan than you can off Amazon. You don't need a sound card, and you would do well getting a better power supply.

Because of the budget I would stick with AMD, tend to get better value for money than Intel with mid end systems. Because you didn't include them in your build, I'm going to assume you don't need an OS or optical drive

ok all seems pretty good except for the processor and video card... would like to use the AMD phenom x4 965 3.4 GHz black but it is more pricey. would the price difference be worth the better performance or should i stick with the one you suggested? also i found this video card;

its a bit cheaper which im all for really, im wondering how much of a difference having the shader clock and slightly lower memory bit rate makes? could you tell me what a shader clock is? i know the memory bit rate will change how much can be transfered per second so i know that that video card could potentially transfer data 1.5x faster. im not sure but with video cards without shader clocks, does that get shunted onto the CPU instead? and thanks for that website and other advice, all that looks good :) and you right, im going to get a student upgrade for the computer to windows 7 professional which is fairly cheap. and i will strip the optical drive out of my old computer seeing as its not too bad and should suit what i need it for.
 
The 955 and 965 are the same CPU, just the 965 is a whole 200MHz higher clocked, which is nothing. Both have 200MHz FSB, but the 955 has a 16 x multiplier, while the 965 has a 17 x multiplier at stock. You can go into the bios and set the multi to 17 on the 955, and you will have a 965 with no side effects from it, the extra £16 isn't justified because you get nothing extra.

As for the video card, you are comparing a race horse to a donkey. The GTX460 sits in between a 5830 and 5850 performance wise, more towards the 5850, which is immensely more powerful and a much much better card for the price than the 5670 that you posted. For your needs, a 5670 wouldn't cut it

A 5770 is a bit faster for the price, I think. You can get them for $130, which is standard for the 450. If not, the 5750 should cost less, perform about the same, and use less power.

Technically, in terms of pure number crunching power, even the 5670 is more powerful. :/
