Instead of the i7 960, get a i5 2500k or even the i7 2600k and a socket 1155 motherboard. You will just have to get a dual channel set of memory.

id prefer not to change motherboards.... but if i was goin to i would chose these replacements:

1x Asus SABERTOOTH P67 MB, Socket 1155, Intel P67 Chipset, 4x DDR3, SATA3,USB3.0, 8CH Audio, GbL 30/3
1x Intel Core i7 2600 Processor, 3.40GHz, 8MB Cache, Socket LGA1155
1x Corsair 8GB (2x Vengeance 4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL8 Unbuffered Venge Memory for AMD, Intel Dual Channel DDR3, and upcoming 2nd Generation Intel Core platforms. (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8)

although this will increase the price and im on a tight budget as it is :/

the advantage of the i7 is minimal, the diff is hyperthreading, which since most programs aren't threaded for more than 4, if even 4, cores, then there is no benefit since it can't take advantage of it, only time you need the i7 is if doing alot of encoding/decoding, that's almost the only time it will see a true benefit, and it still isn't much, i wouldn't consider it worth 100 or more dollars.

thanx.... if thats the case i wouldnt waste my money, ur right its not worth the extra $$$.... ive reconsidered the cpu:

1x Intel Core i5 2500K Unlocked Processor, 3.30GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket LGA1155 Over Clockers Model

but there's still a price rise.... but i think i can live with it

i wouldnt really like to change motherboards, mostly cause i really want the asus sabertooth.... and at the price that im lookin at, im not really worried about 20-40 bucks
