Well I'm a bit of a noob to computer stuff and have been learning about it only recently.Anyway, I was using a Acer aspire for gaming and was getting fed up with the overheating problems so I have decided to get a new computer. I want a computer that will perform well with high settings for my games.i then did a bit of research on all the various components needed and I decided on all the core elements of my computer. Where I need some help is whether the components I hope to get are compatible:

GPU: 2 x (EVGA GeForce Gtx 560 Ti)
CPU: Intel core i7 - 960 BX80601960
Motherboard : Intel BOXDX58SO2 Socket LGA1366
RAM: Corsair CMX12GX3M3A1333C9 XMS3 Desktop Memory Kit
Hard drive: Seagate ST31000524A S Barracuda Hard Drive
After market CPU cooler: Corsair CWCH70 Hydro Series H70 CPU liquid cooler

All of those are from tigerdirect.com which I heard for good for computer parts
Any help would be appreciated =]

go to newegg to get parts. They are generally cheaper.

As for your parts, get a i5-2500k and 1155 socket board. They are the current generation of Intel processors. Also, get a single powerful GPU instead of 2 lower end ones. you will be happier in the end.

How come the i5 CPU and equivalent mobo, more bang for you buck?
The only reason I wanted the i7 is cause I didn't want to upgrade for a while, how long do u rekon the i5 will last before upgrading?

Would it be better suited for games because that's the main thing ill be using it for. I'm a noob I know, I still don't know what all the specs for the computer parts mean. Thx for the fast responds btw.

Is the i7 I posted a slightly lower calibre one and if so, which is i7 would be preferable. The only reason I ask is because I was thinking like 4-5 years before upgrading again and i heard that the i5 you recommended would probs only last around 2-3 years.

nope. Its top of the line now. it will last (using a P4 2.8 as a guide stone) about 8 years before it will need upgrading. But this is by no means a end all though, as games are slowly catching up to the CPU is core utalization, and AMD is already coming out with a 4 module/ 8 core CPU, so... i would guess that in the next couple of years, even a quad core wont play very well (like the C2D's are getting now).

The i7 you posted will be about 30% slower than the 2500k. The i7-2600k is the next step up, but you really gain no real world performance with it. They both have teh same base instruction sets, and only have a 133 MHz difference in the clocks (bump multi by 1 and your still ahead).

In regards to overclocking is the i7 - 2600K better than the i5-2500k? Also what would the would those processors cost? sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to buy the wrong thing.

Ok thx for all the help, two last questions. Can I get the 2600k with the 1366 socket or is it a 1155. And if so will I have to reconfigure my set up around the 1155 changing my ram and all that to the 1155 specs. Also since my budget is max $1600, would it realy be better getting a high end gpu like a gtx 590 or 580 over my previously posted SLI'd cards as I can just add another 560 later(well I think I can cause the 1366 mobo has 3 x16 slots).

you will need a 1155 socket board to work that processor. As was stated, a higher end gpu will net better results. A GTX 580 would be best.

Ok thx for all you help, just got 2 more questions . Can I get the i7-2600k with a 1366 socket and if not will I have to reconfigure my set up around the 1155? Also I have a max budget of $1600 so is it realy worth getting one high end you like a 580/590 when I could just add another gtx 560 Ti later(well I think I could, the 1366 has 3 x16 slots) any thx in advance =D

they have 1155's with 3 and 4 sockets too, and if you didn't see his but i think you did, the answer was 1155 is required, but the 2600k is barely more powerfull than the 2500k other than de and encoding and a few other spots.
