Hi, i am also making a new desktop PC which is already sorted out, my specs are in my signature, Is that $1500 American? BTW: my Specs cost me Roughly $1000 Australian.

What i recommend:
CPU: Intel Core 2 duo 8400 OR Intel quad core. (intel says quad core for gaming/multitasking/multimedia) I doubt you will need a core i7 for gaming.
RAM: 6gbs of ram DDR2 or 4gbs DDR3 (corsair)
PSU: 600W PSU or more (not antec from what ive heard) need decent PSU for the video card. if you are getting a GTX 260 or better i think you want 800W maybe not sure.
HDD: high rpm westerndigital HDD
GRAPHICS: Highly recomend a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 OR
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT with 1GB memory. (both good gaming cards)
MOBO: not quite sure on the Motherboard.

Product comparisons:

Hope this helps a bit.

Asus P6T is not a stable motherboard if you want to overclock because of the SAS ports

BTW nice build go for GTX 275 it is faster than 4890 and OCZ has some compatibility issue so go for PATRIOT VIPER or G SKILL
and as for hard drive go for WD Caviar Black
and casing
HAF 932 or antec 1200 as core i7 920 runs hot and as for cooler vigor will do your other options are xigmatek thor;s hammer or coolermaster v8 or noctua

here you go
As for gaming go for this

Is GTX275 better than 4890? From few benchmark I've seen, it usually depends on the resolution. 4890 generally do better at 1680 x 1050 and 1900 x 1200; while with 2560 x 1600, GTX 275 do better...

firstly, go i7. Your price range is perfect for it and it is the most powerful home chip you can get at the minute.

motherboard + processor combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.193607 $455
memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145224 $166
storage: 2x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136319 RAID0 $140
1x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148298 storage $80
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139009 $135
graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130484 $365
case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129043 $160

total: $1501

just over you $1500 but you can change the case, get different RAM or a little less graphics card and it will be cheaper but still kick ass. You can also try resourceing, it may be cheaper elsewhere but keep postage costs in mind

:D thnx every1

my budget is 1500$ aus, as im in perth WA

aastii that i7 build sounds very nice, and fits my build price nicely,
also i will be puttin a pci-e Sound blaster X-FI extreme audio. unless the mobo supports optical(which by lookin at the pic it does)
the i7 is a quad core which shall multitask beautifuly.
but also does just checking will this system be able to support x64 bit xp, as i really dnt like vista. final question, does this puppy support dual graphics cards?
would check myself but im strapped for time at work. o and if any1 noes of any cheap 22" monitors around.

cheers for all teh help :D:D
