Building new computer

X2 3800+
DFI NF4 Ultra-D
Current RAM (see sig)
X800 series most likely
SATA2 HDD 40GB & 60-80GB
Everything else in my rig i'd keep, meaning powersupply, dives, fans, etc. although i definetly want a new case.

Well, generally speaking, "new" is only "new" for 6 months tops in the computer industry i think. But your computer can LAST you very many years. I know my computer is considered "old" and it still works for me :)

That's a good point. Do you think within the next 3 years, technology will change so dramatically that I will have to buy a new computer, or do you think it would last, and just be prone to upgrades?

I want a computer which will last at least three years, hopefully it will... ^.^

Well, when I bought my computer 64-bit CPU technolog was unheard of. Socket A was the absolute top of the line in AMD world. Now it's old and slow, and getting harder to find each day. But (with a better video card) I could still be playing today's most demanding games, so i think it's fair to say it's not "obsolete" yet.

The video card sounds ok. Would it be worth it though?
And with that card can you still put another videocard for SLI?
No that IS SLI'd already

I agree but im not sure Ag3n7_fli has that option

You probably wont ever HAVE to buy a new computer but you'll most likely WANT to

You sure? It's been around for a very long time you know

Maybe 64-bit computing for home users was unheard of? lol, i'll be honest and say i had no earthly idea anything above 32-bit was around (consumer or anything else) when i first got into computers lol.

Granted yes 64bit consumer chips havnt been mainstream for all that long but I'll tell ya 64bit Alphas are positively ancient ... Itaniums too.
