Building New Pc need Help!

So I'm going to need a new pc for this next month and I rather build one than buy one. I Need advice since i havent been in the "pc" scene in a couple months + I want advice on parts/brands.

I have keyboard mouse and monitor (If $ is left over I can buy new keyboard/mouse maybe even a monitor). So I have an adjustable lcd dell monitor around 21 inches im guessing its alright for now.

Im here pretty much to take your advice, but only thing is I want a good motherboard(3sli?i dk) and processor(i7?) that i dont have to update for around a year or 2. Im looking to buy a good mother board that i can easily update for more memory (from like 8 to 12 etc) , new video card easily,etc . Maybe even a very nice powersupply.

My budget w/o mouse/keyboard//monitor is around $1000.


I like the HAF by CoolerMaster other than that i take advice thanks.
 
are you looking to go intel/amd and ati/nvidia specifically or do you not care? what are you planning on doing with this build? gaming? if so, what kind (maximum on all games or just medium/high)?
 
I dont really care, I might rather get intel since it would get me through more time. VIdeo editing, PS, a little gaming not really in High definition but do want like view HD videos and that it fast and overall fast.

core i7 930 and 860 perform similarly.
However, 930 based on X58 platform, which a decent motherbother would be around $200.
The main advantages for X58 platform is it allow running SLi/ CF at full speed. Since you are not into gaming, there is no point for you to have a PC with that function as you won't need to run dual/ triple video card for casual video editing
