So far everything seems compatible. We have not run the parts by anybody else, so i am looking for more opinions as to what parts could be upgraded for best performance/price. As for hdd or other drives will be recycled from old rig, so just the above parts i am looking for.

Would be used for gaming mostly (Starcraft2) and media (youtube).

Spending limit - about $1k or low as possible. Any help building this is much appreciated.

Are you planning on doing SLI (Dual video cards) on this machine? If so, get at least a 750w. OCZ is an ok brand, but some better ones are antec, corsair, pc power and cooling, silverstone, seasonic, and xfx.

Once again, if you are planning on using two video cards, get this board. Has 2 2.0 slots both working at x16, compared to yours which has one at x16 and the other at x4.

As for the CPU, its pretty much overkill for gaming and media. No games will make use of those 2 extra cores. Look for a 955, 965, or 960T quad core. Will save you some money.

Yes, it would. You do need more than a 600w for two cards, though.

And I still would choose a 570 over two 6870s. A 570 will max any game out there.

along with less driver issues, less heat issues, less power draw, and a better upgrade path of adding a second 570 instead of having to replace 2 6870's
