ok my budget is >1800AUD i am buying my parts from www.computeralliance.com.au

i need 2.4+ quad or 3.0+ duel core cpu. Amd OR Intell witch ever gives more bang for the buck... am going to overclock where i can. However i donot wish to buy a phemon at all.
no more then a 8800Gt or 9800 Will settle for a 8600 or 9600 if price diffrence is great.
2 - Pref4+Gig of 800 mhz ram
Mobo with 1+ IDE slot and sata slots and 1 Pci-E slot
4+ slots for ddr2 ram
the antec 900 gaming case
is really what i need,

what i would also like is a bigger HDD somthing in the 500 range, Raid controller (nothing fancy) g15 keyboard 12Gig of ram with I-ram :D (yes im srs i have x64 os( / dribble @ WoW loading times installed in I-ram)).

as i said budget is anything upto 1800max 1200 - 1500 pref, Building it myself so no Fee there.

i use my comp for,
Gaming, Encypting/super compressing files and transfering large files around my lan. (by large i mean upto 20 Gig)

What are you going to be using it for? Why do you need us to put the pc together for you? You are headed in the right direction!! For the best bang for your buck I would go Intel although I personally dont like them. Why 4gb ram? Way more than what you will need!

I install programs in ram so they run faster, hence the more ram i have the more i can install in it.

basicaly i make ram act like a HDD.

i need help in choosing exact parts to use for best performance. for example i have no idea what motherboard chipset to chose.

I would go with the Intel E8400 or E8500 dual core for gaming and OC'ing.

Motherboard - Abit IP35 Pro or an Abit or Gigabyte X38 board.

Actually, do you even game at all??? If not, then just go with a Q6600 ($200) or Q6700 ($280) for the CPU and you won't even need that great of a video card either.

i have just started playing arma, witch hardly works on my dads Q6600 with an 8800GTS 320 and dosnt work at all on mine so i fiqured it was time to upgrade, i also play a lot of simulation games like SH4 Trainz and fsx but they get boring with low graphics on, and of couse WoW 60 % of my gaming time.

Oh, ok, wow... didn't notice this b4. You should def go with an 8800GTS G92 card then. The first card I stated. It also has a lifetime warranty and it offers much better cooling then that 8800GT cards do.

well i can get a

Gigabyte 8800GTS 512M PCIe Video Card $349

VS

Albatron 9800GTX 512M PCIe Video Card $389

his q6600 is stock, the other cpu's are just 2 expencive so i think it would be better to just O/C the Q6600 to 3.0Ghz +

Also any thorts on I-Ram?

Oh i notice'd i dint put in what im using my comp for,

Gaming, Encypting/super compressing files and transfering large files around my lan. (by large i mean upto 20 Gig)

midleman - Newegg does NOT ship to Australia!

Go with Corsair or OCZ. DDR2-800. Preferably with a cas of 4 or equivalent.

I know they don't ship to Australia. I never said they did. I use the site as a reference only. For product info and pricing. If the person likes the product then they can find a site to get it to them.

The Q6600 OC's very well so you can def go that route. Just make sure you choose a good motherboard and RAM for OC'ing as well. Might want to go with DDR2 1066 I-RAM. However, if the 1066 is out of your price range then DDR2 800 should also be OK as long as it is a CAS 4.

As far as the video cards are concerned, the 8800GTS and the 9800GTX are pretty much the same card. The 9800GTX is basically the replacement for the 8800GTS, however, the 8800GTX and 8800 Ultra is better than both of those cards.
