Built my PC, 1 RAM DOA

you need a 64-bit operating system to utilize 4 gbs of ram.

most ppl only have a 32-bit operating system which will only recognize 3.x amount of ram.

There is the problem, all the sticks work, I just tried them, so can I upgrade to XP 64 and it will work?

And how much is XP 64?

Or is it USING all 4 gb, just not SHOWING that it is?

It's DETECTING all 4GB, it's not using the .75GB...

32BIT - 3.25GB Max
64BIT - 128GB Max

But XP x64, regret it later. I'd shoot for Vista on this occasion. Too many hassles with drivers...

Ok, so I am just preparing for the future lol

Doesn't bother me that much.

I might get Vista soon, but I have heard so many driver's being crap and such, I guess I will see, I can always go BACK to XP if I hate Vista.

Zactly :)

The service pack came out. Should fix those lil holes.

(I am a neutralist. Neither support XP or Vista. I've seen what happens when they argue over the two... :D)

dude i dunno why people like xp64 but i used it and my system can def handle it..but it gave me LOTS of errors with programs ive been using forever and random bullshit wouldent work like pluggin my xbox360 to my pc anymore or other things..dont upgrade i hated it u will too cuz im cool like that

Exactly. Driver issues. Most are coded for 32bit, not 64bit. Vista 64bit is quite a popular OS, and they have drivers for both the 32bit and 64bit... XP x64 is a minority... Rarely used. Vista is preferred in this area.
