Put my new PC together tonight and turned it on...All it does is beep every couple seconds. The beep will last about 2 seconds. I get no image on the monitor. I tried 3 different HDs so I can rule that out. All cables are hooked up right AFAIK.

WTF could the problem be?

those beeps are telling you what the probelm is, they are a bios error code. You need to determine the type of beep kinda like morse code, how many are there, are they long of short like
beep beep beeeeeeeep beep

write the code of beeps down and look in you motherboard manual.
What mobo is it by the way?

I tried starting ti up w/just the ps, vid card & monitor hooked up. I got nothing.

Vid card is good because I tried it in my current machine.

Looks like bad MB annd/or RAm to me.

Should I try resetting the CMOS?

You could try I suppose (remove battery for a min or two).

Do you have 2 sticks of RAM or one? Try using one if you have two... If you have one, put it in different slots. Is there another 4 pin power cable that you need to hook up to the motherboard? Some need a 4-pin power cable too...

Could you please give us the specs of your PC (mobo name, amount of RAM, CPU, etc...)?

All cables are hooked up.

Only 1 stick of RAM & I have tried both slots. I get nothing with or without RAM installed.

Ultra ddr pc3200 1 gb ram
mach speed k8m8ms mb
amd athlon 64 3700+ processor
masscool k8 fan for cpu
geforce fx5500 vid card
ultra 500w ps

Is it that its not booting up or that there's no image on the monitor? If there's no image it could be that the port has gone bad (had that happen to me before) I mean, i read through the posts a few times and thats all I could really get out of it is that the monitors port might have gone bad. Everything else from what you've said seems to be in order. You might wanna check into that.

I get nothing on the scree so I don't know what the computer is doing.

How do I check into the port? The video card is good & that's where the monitor hooks up to.

The damn thing is back to the same beeping shit. I tried new memory from CompUSA and it still beeps...WTF?!

Is the new memory you got compatible with the motherboard, like did you check to see if it was? That is probably what the beeping is about. It might also be that the RAM isnt hooked in securly/correctly. Also, are you sure that the video card is good, did you try it on another machine to make sure it is?

Both memory sticks are compatible w/this mb. It's hooked up properly

Vid card has been verified good

From the Mach Speed site:

When powering up my computer, I hear weird beeps?
Solution for Socket A Boards: Refer to beep code table below.

Beep Code Symptom Possible resolution 1 Possible resolution 2

* One long beep continuous loop Memory failed Try new memory
* High/ Low beep CPU overheat CPU fan connected correctly CPU fan needs to be replaced CPU is overheating due to bad CPU
* One long followed by 3 short Video Problem Need to try new video card

I already determined long ago, from the manual, that the beep was for RAM. Replacement MB will be here today. If still the same result the whole mess goes back to Tiger and I buy from newegg.
