thanks 20gig

ok firstly you now that if this is a copyright film then it is illegal to copy and distribute the dvd. Lets asume for the moment that this is a legit dvd, that just contains a movie of your sisters 1st birthday
You can not burn 7gig onto a 4.7 gig dvd, the large dvd is a different format dvd called dvd9 or dual layer. You burner may support dual layer, if you post the make and model than i will look it up for you. However you would need to buy dual layer blank dvds.

If your burner does nto suport dual layer then you need to reauthor the orginal dvd, this includes such things as: Removing the extras, removing subtitles, removing extra audio language, and compressing the file size.
I use dvd shrink (which is free, and easy to use)

you will need to read the help file though. For a novice pc user this whole process may be slightly comlicated. Post back with your progress

dual layer dvds cost 20 bucks for just 3, and also if you dont want to reduce the qualtly of the dvd , i recommend burning onto 2 disk, to do that you need to rip the dvd9 onto ur harddrive , then split it into two parts ( u'll have to fisd some software for this, search google for dvd file splitting) then burn both parts 2 2 discs

edit: you can also rip REAL dvds with dvdshrink :) ha hahahaah :)
