burning on dvd -r and +r

I thought advd burning drive should be able to burn either type of disk, but I guess not? I wass trying to do a backup of a dvd with dvd shrink, and the software does a full analysis, but when it comes time to burn the dvd (with nero) it seems to do and complete that phase. When my disk is ejected it appears blank, and just idles when I put it back in or into a dvd player.

Is it crashing like that when I try to read it cause Im using a dvd -r disk, but on my dvd burner it says dvd +r/rw? I guess it cant burn on both + and -?

I suppose that would be the problem than, why it was freezing in the proccess, because it says dvd -r on the drive, but i tried to use dvd +r ?

in your first post you said that your drive was dvd+r not dvd-r, which is it?

anyway it will probably be a problem becuase youre using the wrong type of disc or a problem with your software

EDIT:in a dual layer (±) dvd burner i think you can burn both types!

Well the + is the better burned dvd in the end.. high compression or some crap for that format. So i dont see why they would only make it burn the better ones but no the othe rones.. the -... BUT if your drive only does + and not - You should check into that. What brand of burner do you have? Model/Make? It might be something dfifferent at that point.
